WGC DELL TECHNOLOGIES MATCH PLAY

March 22, 2022

Adam Scott

Austin, Texas, USA

Austin Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Just talk about coming back to Austin for this Dell Technologies Match Play, first time since 2016. Why the change? What has kept you away for such a long time, and why did you come back this year?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, things change, so my schedule has changed, and the date of the tournament might be slightly different, as well. That's kind of how I pick my schedule.

Q. Talk a little bit about a different week obviously with match play versus stroke play. What's cool about match play? You've been in so many Presidents Cups previously. What's fun about match play?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, I think it's just something different for us. It's not a regular event, and you get the opportunity to kind of get a result every day. So that's fun. Even if you don't win the tournament, you might win three or four or five matches this week, and winning seems fun, so I think that's what's cool or different about it.

You know, also depending on where your game is at and everything, you can really use this week as a good way to test yourself, being a little more aggressive. It doesn't really matter if you mess one hole up. You can kind of test where your game is at by being quite aggressive out there.

Q. How is the game feeling after PLAYERS?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, it's all good. I didn't play as well as I wanted at THE PLAYERS, but my game still feels in good shape. Hopefully I can get through to the weekend, then you never know. 18-hole match play is a bit of a lottery when you put the best players up against each other.

Q. You're with Jordan, Justin Rose, and Keegan. Talk about the matches ahead and the quality of players that you're up against.

ADAM SCOTT: Well, they're all tough matches, all major champions. Even if they weren't -- there aren't easy groups here, and I expect every match to be very difficult. And playing well, it's going to come down to the right shot at the right time for someone.

Q. You just walked off the golf course; how is it looking? Seems like it's a perfect golf course for match play, isn't it?

ADAM SCOTT: It's a good match play course, yeah. There's lots of risk and reward and a bit of movement on the greens. You can be quite creative. I think it's quite a fun course because it gives you a big reward if you take an aggressive shot on and pull it off.

You know, it's quite an interesting course for us for match play this week.

Q. Obviously this week you've probably got an eye on the Masters in a couple weeks' time. Is this how you gradually get yourself ready for the first major of the year?

ADAM SCOTT: Well, I think that's the plan from January. We all know the Masters is just a couple weeks away, and this is definitely a tune-up for that.
