SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

March 6, 2022

Aliyah Boston

Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Bridgestone Arena

South Carolina Gamecocks

Postgame Press Conference

Kentucky 64, South Carolina 62

Q. On the last play, what happened and what were you guys trying to do on that last play?

ALIYAH BOSTON: We were trying to get a stop on that last possession, and they scored.

Q. Aliyah, Coach Staley said each of the past two games in the fourth quarter, you've taken your foot off the gas. Is that what it seemed like to you out there, and if that's the case, is there any time during either game where you felt like, I need to do something to get us going, to get the momentum back?

ALIYAH BOSTON: Today I didn't really feel like we took our foot off the gas in the fourth quarter. I think we were playing and they just found different ways to score.

I mean, I tried to do what I could. Fourth quarter I definitely just needed to be probably a little bit more aggressive to be able to help the team, but our goal was to just continue to get stops, and that's what I thought we were trying to do.

Q. Just as a veteran leader on this team, what is your message going to be to the team as you go into the NCAA Tournament, having the ultimate goal as Dawn Staley just mentioned ahead of y'all?

ALIYAH BOSTON: Yeah, it's going to be that we've got to keep working, take the next couple days, think about this game. But we have March Madness coming up and postseason so this is what we've got to focus on and making sure we're locking into every single detail.

Q. I know it's probably difficult to talk for other people, but for yourself when you just look around the vibe, you guys have played in some of the biggest crowds this year, been playing against some of the biggest teams in the country. Did you feel like there was a little tenseness in the fourth quarter, especially these last two days with the offense how it's been performing?

ALIYAH BOSTON: I don't think so at all. I think we were just trying to find ways to score. But we're going to figure it out. We have postseason coming up, so we're just locked in on that now.
