Quick Quotes

Q. Some general comments about off to another good start for a second round.

BILLY HORSCHEL: I thought today was going to be a special day. 4-under through seven holes, missed the birdie putt from about six feet on No. 13 to be 4-under after four and had a couple of other long range putts that I thought I made.

Made a bad swing, a really bad swing at 17, probably one of the worst swings I've made in a month. Then from there, the swing just sort of didn't feel nearly as good. Hit some good tee shots that I thought were in the fairway and ended up in the first cut, caused some massive fliers. Couple of bad bogeys at 2 and 7.

Other than that, a really solid day, stayed patient out there. Could have been a little bit more aggressive and made a mess of some things. But happy with the way I played the last two days and sitting in a really good spot going into the weekend.

Q. Are you the kind of guy who thinks about 59 and things like that when you've got it going low early? Maybe not on purpose.

BILLY HORSCHEL: 59 wasn't thought about after the first few holes. I thought it was going to be a really good -- I'm 4-under after seven. Obviously, I've got to get by a couple tough stretches, but I know I've got some birdie opportunities. So I'm thinking I'm going to possibly shoot 6, 7, maybe get the 8-under par.

Unfortunately, it was just a really bad uncommitted golf swing at 17. Came back with a good birdie at 18, thought we were right back on track. Then like I said, just lost a little momentum on the bogey on No. 2 and then just made a bad swing at the 3rd tee shot, hit it into the water.

Other than that, had the opportunity to make some putts and just didn't do it. Hit some good putts, but they just didn't fall.

Q. 17, how -- you made a bad swing admittedly, but just how difficult is that hole playing today at 238?

BILLY HORSCHEL: It always plays tough. There's not many holes that play easy out here. Me and my caddie Fooch are still on opposite sides of the fence. He thought it was a 4-iron, which is what we hit. Afterwards, I thought, man, maybe I should have hit a high soft 3. We have said we're agreed to disagree.

It's just one of those things it's a tough hole. All you try to do is get it on the green or around the hole to get it up and down, just try to make a par. I hit it in the one spot that you just can't get up and down from.
