Quick Quotes

Q. What a fantastic opening round. Can you talk a little bit about how it went today.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I feel like everything was pretty solid. Couple of shots here and there. But overall I'm really happy with how I played.

Q. And did you play in Florida at the start of the year? So how are you feeling about your game? Obviously you've got a massive title to defend coming up next month.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Pretty confident about my game right now. More so comfortable just being on the course. I feel like I found my inner peace just being on the course, and I just enjoy it a little bit more.

Q. And how did you work on that to find your peace?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Just feel grateful, I guess. Grateful that I have a job that I like. I get to travel around the world. Most importantly I feel like I just really enjoy -- so far enjoying this year a little bit more than last year.

Q. And do you think that's because maybe you put too much pressure on yourself after a win so quick?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Not exactly. It was just more like have a fresh year, looking forward for what's to come.

Q. And it's also quite a big learning curve because you were a rookie last year. So you found your feet and manage yourself a little bit more?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, a lot better. I usually just go to the tournament on Tuesday now.

Q. And what did you do particularly well out there today?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I think my putting was solid. Everything just solid. Ball striking. I'd say I'd give it probably 7 out of 10. But, you know, putting was really good, stroking good. Read putts, I read the greens really good today. But overall I put myself in a really good position.

Q. Yes, you had no bogeys at all today, so it's a great first round.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, up-and-down was good too.

Q. And what would it mean like to have in front of this tournament quite a lot as a youngster and seeing all your fellow countrymen playing it? What would this mean to win at this tournament?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It would mean a lot. I mean, every win would mean a lot for me as a player, in general. And like winning where you like, like I love Singapore, winning here would be fantastic.

Q. And you were at home last week?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Mm-hmm.

Q. Was that also quite helpful in helping you feel peaceful and ready?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Calm, yeah. I was just resting really well. I was just enjoying my time back at home.

Q. And maybe no jet lag.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah. Yeah, that helped a lot.

Q. Did you work with a coach or anyone when you were Thailand?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: No, I was keeping contact with my coach back in the States, just, you know, check up here and there, nothing too major to work on.

Q. Just therapeutic to see family and friends?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah.
