Patrick Cantlay

Pebble Beach, California, USA

Pebble Beach Golf Links

Quick Quotes

Q. Did you do enough today do you think in terms of tournament-wise, position-wise, all that good stuff?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, if the lead stays at 15-under I'm obviously right there. I think I came back from more strokes behind than that. So I'm in great position and I love this golf course and everyone will be playing on the same golf course tomorrow so it should be fun.

Q. Any advantage would you think to going back to back at Pebble?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Maybe a little bit. The greens definitely were the firmest of the three places today here at Pebble. With the wind up a little bit I think it may dry out a little more.

Q. You talk about firmness, did you catch yourself on a couple of shots in terms of where to land it? 3, for example, I don't know if that hit something, but that was a pretty significant bounce. I don't know about 14, you couldn't see anyway, so...

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, the greens I think looked firmer than what I saw on the telecast the first two days here today. But they're plenty receptive if you hit good shots, it just makes it a little trickier. The greens are obviously really small, I think some of the smallest on TOUR out here, so getting your ball close is sometimes a challenge, especially in the crosswinds today.

Q. Weird tournament on the three courses, but did you find yourself looking at the leaderboard at all when it showed up, just to get an idea of what Seamus was doing, so that he didn't run a with it type thing?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Not that I could control him running away.

Q. I know that. But surely you're curious.

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, of course. I don't mind looking at the leaderboard and I think it's good to know where you stand. So I'll check it out, but I won't look at it too hard and it looks like I'm right there.

Q. How agonizing was that first putt on 18?

PATRICK CANTLAY: It wasn't bad. I mean, downhill and had a great view.
