LPGA DRIVE ON CHAMPIONSHIP

February 4, 2022

Brittany Altomare

For Myers, Florida, USA

Crown Colony Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Brittany, 5-under day puts you at 9-under overall I believe. Just take me through what was working on the second round.

BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, I think both days I hit the ball really, really well. I gave myself a lot of opportunities. I know I missed the cut last week but my ball striking was really good.

This week the greens are so pure. They're so nice here. I felt like I was putting good strokes and the ball was finally going in the hole, so it was really nice to see.

Q. You start on No. 10 today. You had that one double but you were able to rebound quick on your back nine, which was the front nine. What happened there on the double, and what did you do to kind of reset moving forward?

BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, it was just one really bad swing. That's all it was. I just kind of told myself, you know, You're hitting the ball really well. You're putting it really well. Just keep the momentum going. Yeah, that's what I did on the next three holes, which was really nice.

I really tried to focus this year on staying one shot at a time, being present, because I feel like last year I just kind of -- that kind of got away from me, and it's actually really hard to do sometimes.

I felt that I've been trying to do it better and better.

Q. Is there a reason you think it got away from you? Were you focusing on something else?

BRITTANY ALTOMARE: I don't know. I mean, I felt like I had a lot going on last year with the wedding and everything and still a lot of COVID stuff and travel. I started meditating a couple times a week, which isn't really my thing, but I felt like if I needed to work on it, at least that will help me stay in the present.

So we'll see how it goes, but it's helped me a lot at least.

Q. Wow, that's a huge kind of decision to make, too, to be able to take the time to do that. What made you lean towards meditation, if you don't mind me asking?

BRITTANY ALTOMARE: I just always like thinking about solutions. I knew what the problem was, or I felt like this was one area I needed to get better at, and just thought that might be a good solution to the problem.

So we'll see how it goes. But so far I've really enjoyed it. It's hard, but I've enjoyed it.

Q. Coming back to the course here, this front nine you were able to finish off strong. What does that do for your confidence heading into the final day knowing it's only a three-round tournament and we're ending tomorrow?

BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, it's definitely like a shootout basically. When it's three days, it's foot on the gas. I just think if I keep hitting it well, give myself chances, anything can happen.

Q. You said your ball striking was good last week. Do you think you carried that momentum into this week as well?

BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, I feel like I'm hitting it great. Like I said, it was just one bad swing. Can't really think too much about it. I'm hitting it well and my putter feels great, so...
