LPGA DRIVE ON CHAMPIONSHIP

February 4, 2022

Patty Tavatanakit

For Myers, Florida, USA

Crown Colony Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Patty, I just want to start off today with that highlight on your last hole there. Take me through that eagle.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I didn't really -- honestly didn't hit a good drive. Just really spin-y. Actually the ball was plucked, and then I hit a really good second shot and finally one putt dropped and that happened to be that one.

Q. What did you like most about that hole that you felt like it was reachable?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It was just a normal -- not easy, but reachable par-5, which makes it more fun I guess.

Q. For you, a long hitter like yourself, what did you think of the par-5s out here this week?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I really like them. I feel like there is a lot of risk and reward. Even though it's all reachable, still have to execute and hit shots. So, yeah.

Q. We talked to a couple other players that have said the wind has really affected how you approach especially the longer holes. How do you think it affected you today?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Not much. (Laughter.) Yeah, it affected in a way like where you want to place yourself or --I mean, the greens weren't as fast today, so really you just got to hit it somewhat decent.

But, I mean, at the end of the day it's like it's the wind, you got play it.

Q. Only a 70 today but still up there at the top of the leaderboard. How confident do you feel heading into tomorrow?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Comfortable. Just another round of golf, yeah.

Q. This is going to be your third event. Are you kind of relieved for tomorrow to be able to take a little bit of time off?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: For sure, yeah. I feel like this -- I have been kind of taking a lot of time off this week actually. Yesterday going into the round I felt really fresh and really just rested, so that's why I hit more shots, more like good shots.

But today, we had an afternoon round yesterday and then waking up early, so it's a little bit slow. It is what it is.

Q. When it's that third event and you're talking about resetting mentally and staying fresh, what is it about a week like this that keeps you fresh?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It is easier to say, because overall I feel pretty good about my game so I can take a lot of time off.

But if you don't feel good about your game, I mean, you still got to do the work. At the same time, just got to know your limits a little bit, understand that not every week is going to be your best golf. Just kind of taking it easy and just trusting yourself.

Q. What do you think will be the key tomorrow?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Keeping it light I think. Just play my game, and if it were to be mine tomorrow, it will. If it's someone else's, then good for them.
