LPGA DRIVE ON CHAMPIONSHIP

February 4, 2022

Nanna Koerstz Madsen

For Myers, Florida, USA

Crown Colony Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Nanna, solid day yesterday, ending with that eagle on 18. Now here you are at 7-under overall. How are you feeling after the first two days?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Pretty good. It's nice to just the first two tournament of the year see where the game is. It's not there quite yet, but I'm getting closer.

I made a lot of good shots out there and a lot of the great putts.

Q. When you say it's not there quite yet, what are you focusing in on as you go through even just at Crown Colony?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Well, definitely have to improve my wedge game. I got some new irons from Callaway. I really love those. I'm sure that's going to help me a lot in the future.

So, yeah, my iron game and wedge game. I'm always really good with my driver, but I just have to tune it a little bit.

Q. In today's round you really started picking it up at 18 with that birdie there. Being able to have three more on your way in and one on 9. A lot of people are saying that front nine, which was your back nine today, is playing a little bit easier. Do you feel the same way?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: I did actually. Yesterday when I didn't -- what were I, maybe even after the front nine. I was a little, Oh, back nine is tougher than the front nine.

Then, yeah, I finished really good yesterday, so I definitely would say that front nine is playing a little bit easier, but there is still good chances out on the back, too.

Q. We were in your backyard last week because I know you're in Boca Raton when you're not overseas. What's it like being able to go from there to another Florida swing event?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It's great. I mean, I love driving between tournaments. But I would actually say it's more what we're used to when we go here, staying in hotel. It was weird staying in your own place. It was really nice, but still you had to adapt to that.

But still good.

Q. And I know that there were some students that were following you around as well. What was that like as Boca?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It's great. Yeah, Nikki is teaching the students, so it's just always great having a good crowd. There were a lot of people last week cheering.

Q. And you say you're still working on finding especially your wedge play right now. How comfortable and satisfied are you feeling with your game over the past two days as we head into the final day?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: Okay, I would still say there is some work ahead of me, but I'm not missing it too much and I don't make too many mistakes, so that's a good start.

Q. I was talking with Nikki yesterday about the wind direction, taking advantage, especially on those par-5s. You did it yesterday. What was the wind like today out there?

NANNA KOERSTZ MADSEN: It was good. You had downwind on all the par-5s, except from the first on the back nine. I almost reached that one, too.

So definitely did help on the par-5s.
