THE MODERATOR: Congratulations on the win tonight. How are you feeling and how do you feel you played?

GAEL MONFILS: Yeah, I feel great. I felt I played a great match from the beginning to the end. It was very solid. Not much to say about it, just a solid match. Good win for me.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. How would you describe what it means to you to be at this tournament with your bride and the chance to make history as a couple?

GAEL MONFILS: To be honest, I don't really think about it. I'm lucky, for sure, to have my wife with me, that's for sure, but I guess many players are lucky as well, even, you know, they're not always tennis player.

And for the other thing, you know, it's just a fun fact, that's it.

Q. What do you think it is for your game that's helpful to have your wife and what do you think you do to help her game perhaps and what you can share about your experiences?

GAEL MONFILS: Many things. You know, many things. But at the end of the day, as we say, we are speaking a little bit about tennis but not so much. Tennis is our life but we have teams and everything. It's more like in a down moment that it's easier to understand the other person and when the other person wants to help it's also easier to help to have the good word.

But, you know, on anything, you know, she have a team. I have my team. Let's say we have a good motivating ^ speech before the match, maybe better. You know, when she's stressed, of course I have the word to relax her a little bit easier.

But with me, you know, she's always very caring. She knows that I need to feel good most of the time to deliver, so she's, I mean, she knows me quite well and she always have the good word when something comes up maybe outside of tennis or wherever to bring me back on my goal.

Q. What do you think your shared passion for tennis has meant to your relationship?

GAEL MONFILS: It's great. It's great because one of my main passions is tennis, but have I so many, and then also I bring her also to so many different word as well, you know.

And then for sure on her main passion hers is tennis and then that I can understand. I think it's quite good, you know.

But at the end of the day I mostly say to people, you know, tennis, it's something but it's not our life. Our life is, it's way different. It's like we have so much more in common outside of tennis and that is the most important because I guess there's so many people share the tennis passion and I hope that's not why she married me and that's not why I married her, you know. So it's great, but it's not the main thing, you know.
