AUSTRALIAN OPEN

January 22, 2022

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Press Conference

S. TSITSIPAS/B. Paire

6-3, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4

THE MODERATOR: Just want to hear your thoughts on the match. How do you feel about getting to the last 16?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: It feels good to be playing and be part of the last 16. I'm happy with the match today. I feel like there were certain moments where my opponent didn't work as hard as I had to do for the point. It was just one-shot execution from his side, serving really well, coming up with good shots like meaning one, two. Sorry, I'm cold again.

I'm happy with the way I fought at the end. He certainly didn't have to work as hard as I did for the points, but that paid off at the end with me being consistent and patient when I had to be.

THE MODERATOR: Questions?

Q. Other than being cold, are you feeling okay physically? Is the elbow still okay?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: My elbow is very good. Thank you.

Q. The Netflix cameras have been in the room a lot today. There has been a lot of Netflix winners. How does it feel winning with them following you?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: There has been a lot of Netflix winners?

Q. Well, the players that the cameras are following have done well today.

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Well, they should be around more often, I guess (smiling).

What can I say? It's great to have them.

Q. In one moment you got violation for coaching and you looked really surprised. What happened there?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: I have no idea (smiling). I was laughing because it was funny because of the position of the court that I was at. I was really far away from my coach, and with my back facing the other way, so I was just laughing because I don't know where that came from. It was completely unexpected.

Q. You have been in an ice bath?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Right.

Q. Is this something you have always done or is this a new thing in your career?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: No, I have done it for the last four to five years. But I have never really done a press conference right after it. I usually like to take my time.

Q. Taylor Fritz next. How do you feel about that?

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS: Big server, big hitter. He has weapons. I have played him before. I will really have to stay consistent and keep pushing him back.

I feel like it's going to be really important to stay consistent with my shots and my serve and remain focused when I am going to be given some opportunities in that match. You know, it will really be all about staying in the present and trying to come up with some creative stuff when there is going to be big hitting from both sides.
