Quick Quotes

Q. Here tied for the lead after day two with Danielle Kang. How are you feeling after that last birdie on 18?

DANIELLE KANG: It was a bit of a slower round than yesterday, obviously. Played really well and scored 7-under, so coming in 2-under coming into the last couple holes I just really wanted to get to the double digits. That was kind of my goal today, so I was happy to do that.

Q. What did you like more about especially the front nine, being able to close with those two birdies there on 8 and 9?

DANIELLE KANG: One of the things I was actually proud of was there was a couple putts I missed in the beginning. I missed a short one. It just -- the condition of it was kind of bumpy and kind of kicked off my line and kind of annoyed me a little bit.

It happened again the following hole. So trusting my line and trusting my speed and being able to execute without guiding it, and I knew that I was putting well, so basically dropping the bad putt and making the following was a good one.

Q. Take us throughout birdies on the 8 and 9, what you hit in, how far you had.

DANIELLE KANG: I hit my drive. I hit a 6-iron to 94 yards, to the pin. Had 94 yards. I been working a lot on my wedges and I hit my wedge to about, I don't know, seven feet and then made that.

Q. How far?

DANIELLE KANG: Seven feet around.

And then on 18 I had 154 yards I believe, and I hit a 7-iron. The wind was down. I knew it was too much so I kind of aimed left and cut the ball into the pin, and if I did it well it was going to being close; if not, I was going have a 20-footer. I hit it really well, so I was happy about that.

Hit it to about what, 15 feet, 12 feet. I'm not sure.

Ollie, how far was the putt on the last? Ten feet. Sorry. My stats guy over there.

Q. Two tournaments in you've been at the top of the board a lot. It's going to get cool again this weekend. You talked about working on that. Just your general thoughts heading into the weekend in contention again.

DANIELLE KANG: I was actually just cold today, so Ariya kept saying, How are you cold, and I kept having my jacket on. What it is.

Yeah, for right now just focused on finishing well today, and then tomorrow I don't know what the weather is going to be. We can all predict, but when I wake up and go outside and see how cold it is, I'll figure out how to dress and then attack it tomorrow.

Q. And you and Lydia being up top, you guys seem like you supported each other when you won recently.

DANIELLE KANG: Uh-huh.

Q. What's the dynamic with you two?

DANIELLE KANG: She's like my little sister, and I think everybody knows that. She had a phenomenal round yesterday, shot 9-under, and I just saw that she was at 11, so I just kind of wanted to get to double digits today.

I was starting off at 7 and this golf course is tough. You know, 3-under is a good score, 4-under is a good score, so just wanted to post going to score today.

Q. I think one more to wrap up here. For you we've talked about all the work you put in over the last tournament, especially here. What's it like to see it continue into fruition as we did yesterday as well?

DANIELLE KANG: I'm just proud of the process. It's not just about I'm going to keep repeating the same thing that I did last week. It's not just about today or tomorrow or this week or last week. It's kind of being able to keep the consistency up and working on what I need to work on to get to where I want to get to.

It's going to take some time, but I'm proud that I'm executing and working on the things correctly and kind of trusting what I'm doing. That's hard to do a lot of times, and once you hit one bad shot you all of a sudden rely on that.

But I try and step back and reevaluate a lot of good things that I do and recognize the good that I do, so just proud that I'm doing a good job with the team that I've built. They're kind of just paving my way and I just have to keep putting in that work and keep working on it. It's not easy.
