HILTON GRAND VACATIONS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

January 23, 2022

Brooke Henderson

Orlando, Florida, USA

Lake Nona Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Brooke Henderson after a grind of a day. A lot of pars; two birdies on the card. Take us through your round.

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, wasn't really the day I was looking for. At the same time, you grind it out, like you said, pretty well, and was happy to make two birdies; unfortunately that wasn't enough.

Still proud of how we played out there today in those tough conditions. Danielle played amazing, so pretty cool to watch her go so far ahead of everybody else.

Q. T2 right now; top 5 to start the year. Good omen for you to start the rest of the year?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, that's really exciting. I came into this week thinking I had put in some solid work in the off-season, so nice to see that it's paying off.

Hopefully I can use momentum over the next couple weeks and get a couple more top finishes.

Q. Last question that me: What did you see that you need to work and what did you see that you're really happy with out here at Lake Nona?

BROOKE HENDERSON: For the most part I think I did a lot of things really well, and couple things that I really focused on in the off-season, like I said, have paid off at least in the first week, so that's really exciting.

Moving forward, few more breaks, few more putts, and it could have been a different story.

Q. Bogey-free on the weekend, not just yesterday, but today as well. Where does that put your confidence level knowing that on a golf course like this there was a lot of nice par saves today?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, for sure. It was nice to get up and down as many times as I did, and even couple times I hit the green I had long putts.

So it was nice to go bogey-free the last two days. Like I said, I would've liked to make a few more birdies, make a little bit more of a charge, but at the end of the day I can't complain too much.

If you had asked me at the beginning of the week if I would be in the Top 5 I would be very happy. Definitely excited moving forward.

Q. Conditions like this, do they impact you mentally a little bit? I know everyone has to go through the same conditions, but just knowing it's cold out there, does that impact you at all?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, absolutely. It affects you mentally and physically, and when you're in the fairway and you're adding for wind and you're adding cold and looking at Brit and like the number you're hitting is way over the back of the green, when you add all those things in it's hard to commit to it sometimes.

I think I struggled with that a little bit today, but hopefully next week will be a lot warmer, and I know Fort Myers will be too, so that's exciting.

Q. 13 today. Would you call it another bonus birdie?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Absolutely. That hole is really tough. Actually I thought that was one of the toughest hole on this golf course. Birdie yesterday was pretty cool. At the point I felt like I could make a charge coming in; unfortunately I didn't, but it was a great putt.

Q. No scoring on the par-5s today. Any, Oh, I wish I could have got those?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I was in good positions on pretty much all the par-5s, minus the last one. Yeah, normally I capitalize a little bit more on those, so moving forward, maybe put a little bit more emphasis on the short chip shots and hopefully get up and down a little bit more.
