THE AMERICAN EXPRESS

January 22, 2022

Francesco Molinari

La Quinta, California, USA

PGA WEST Pete Dye Stadium Course

Quick Quotes

Q. Another 67 for you in the books and you're right in the mix heading into Sunday. Your thoughts on today.

FRANCESCO MOLINARI: Yeah, more of the same, really, after the first two days, played well, it was tricky, obviously with the wind. Definitely the Stadium Course definitely showed some of its teeth. But, yeah, I played a few holes conservatively when I needed to and then managed to get a few birdies, so a good day in the office for me.

Q. Was there any highlight for you today, any particular shot that stands out from the others?

FRANCESCO MOLINARI: I wouldn't say so. I've played the par-3s very well, which is key I think around Stadium because you can hit it in the water and make a big number. So I hit a really good shot on 17 to maybe four feet, so that was probably one of the best shots of the day, yeah.

Q. What's your mindset heading into tomorrow now that you're in the mix?

FRANCESCO MOLINARI: Yeah, no, I don't have any expectations really, I haven't been in contention for a long time, it's my first event of the year, so it's nice to be up there, obviously see some good signs about my game. But, yeah, I mean it's -- we'll see what conditions we get. If we get same conditions as today, you could easily shoot a high round around Stadium, so I'll see what I can do, but, yeah, pretty much no expectations going into tomorrow.
