ABU DHABI HSBC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

Andrea Pavan

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Yas Links

Quick Quotes

Q. 6-under through three rounds at I can't say links, how pleased are you with your play this week?

ANDREA PAVAN: Very pleased. Lots of good tough going on how I'm handling the wind and the circumstances.

Q. Been a tough couple of years for yourself. How do you reflect on that time and how is the mindset this year knowing what's happened in the past?

ANDREA PAVAN: Yes, I mean, the struggle was real and it was quite intense but I've had it before when I was on The Challenge Tour. Probably it was easier because you're not as much in the spotlight but this time I feel like I have accomplished on the DP World Tour now, so I know I can do it. It just is a matter of like getting it back and it's not easy. I was pleasant a wear that have and I'm not saying it is back or anything but I just feel -- I felt like I have more control and so you know, it's just a process. These first three rounds, I've done great. I've hit some bad shots and I've come back and hit some really good ones. So pleased with that.

Q. You said the mindset and the process. Are they small things that you're working on or is there a bigger picture?

ANDREA PAVAN: I mean there, was a lot of big stuff going on probably halfway through 2020 going into the off-season, and then last year, there was an injury back in there which kind of set me back a little bit. Started doubting a few things I was working on, and yeah, I feel like I've taken -- I think I was three months at home, and with my coach, we worked hard and he really believed in me. We worked on some things and simplified. It felt like we scratched a lot of things that weren't going, and we felt like we were getting closer. Coming here, I didn't expect this but I'm happy and I'll take this.

Q. You're firm in the mix at this tournament this week, how excited are but the prospect of being in that chasing pack tomorrow for the first win for a while?

ANDREA PAVAN: To be honest, I felt great. I felt like I had nothing to lose out there. I mean, I'm playing for -- I'm just trying to enjoy it. You know, it's been nice to be back in contention and not really struggling and fighting to make cuts, which I felt like I enjoy, of course, because we are all competitive players out here.

But again, tomorrow, I'll just stick with what I'm doing. I felt like today I played pretty well. My iron game wasn't as good yesterday because of the wind, but yeah, if I can make a few more putts, you never know. But I think I'll be quite out of reach. Anything I can do, it's great.
