HILTON GRAND VACATIONS TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

January 21, 2022

Colt Ford

Orlando, Florida, USA

Lake Nona Golf & Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Welcome Colt Ford. So Colt, you played really well today. Tell us how was it out there.

COLT FORD: It was good. I have not played near as much golf as I did last year coming into this event because we were coming off the pandemic so I was getting to play a lot of golf.

Now I haven't got to play near as much, but I'm starting to kind of find each day it's getting a little bit better. Today was a pretty good day. It was a fun, good group I had. Weather was good. Golf course was good.

Few mistakes here and there, but I'm doing all right.

Q. Do you have certain expectations for this weekend?

COLT FORD: Yeah. You know, one of the things that's hard for me to overcome is having been a professional golfer at one time, sometimes I can't get my mind out of the fact that I'm not that guy anymore. I'm 52 and I play music for a living, not golf.

So I'm having to manage my expectations. A lot of people could do that with golf. I expect it to get a little better. Weather is supposed to be a little different. The wind blows, the tougher conditions I feel like is a benefit to me because of my experience playing.

So, yeah, I'm going to try to stay in the mix with these boys.

Q. So how did the course play today?

COLT FORD: It played good. They had a few tees up today. Little shorter on some holes. Some of them I took advantage of them, sometimes I didn't. Overall this golf course is just fantastic.

Superintendent here and his staff have done an amazing job. This golf course is really, really good. It's top tier tour quality golf course. Really good.

Q. How much tougher is this golf course from a last year's?

COLT FORD: Well, it's just much tighter off the tee and the rough is substantial versus over there really was not much rough. So some of the guys, long hitters that can really send it, here you got to think about that a little bit more.

Being in the rough is just no good. I would rather be 180 yards in the fairway than 150 yards in the rough. So it's a little different. Around the greens it's very shaved down so the ball runs off. If you get it just off the green, now it doesn't stop there. It might run 25 yards down here and be in the rough.

So it's definitely more difficult.

Q. And what do you learn from playing with the LPGA professionals?

COLT FORD: The girls are so good. I'm friends with a lot of them. Nasa, who I played with today, she's 22 years old. Bless her heart. I got two kids older than she is. Their rhythm is so good. It's just unbelievable. They never try to do anything more than what they can do. They don't change their game. They hit their shot (video glitch) and how straight they hit it.
