SONY OPEN IN HAWAII

January 14, 2022

Brandt Snedeker

Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Waialae Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Runner-up in this tournament back in 2016, Brandt Snedeker, in with 65 here on Friday. What are your takeaways from day two here at the Sony?

BRANDT SNEDEKER: Yeah, drove it really well today. Front nine gave us a lot of opportunities; was able to capitalize on a few of them. To do that around here, drive the ball in the fairway, you're going to have to to be successful.

The rough is probably as thick as I've ever seen it here, so put the ball in the fairway this week you have got a really good chance of making some birdies. Greens are perfect, receptive right now. There is not a lot of the wind, so not a lot of excuses for not making birdies around here.

Q. 9-under, halfway home. Six behind Russell Henley. How much do you believe you're going to have to continue to step on the gas pedal as maybe mid-20s will win this thing?

BRANDT SNEDEKER: Yeah, I need to have one of those rounds like Russell and some of the guys have had where you shoot 61, 62. You can do it around here. You got to drive the ball in the fairway, take advantage of the par-5s, and kind of get by the two or three holes you got to really pay attention to.

So hopefully I can keep driving it the way I did the last two days, build on the momentum I have, and see a few more putts go in. Should be a lot of fun.

Q. Nine time PGA TOUR winner; 41 years young. As you kick off another year on the PGA TOUR, how do things change for you in terms of setting goals, expectations?

BRANDT SNEDEKER: You know, not a lot has changed. Still love this game golf. Still love doing this for a living. Still have a ton of passion for it. I still have high standards for myself. Didn't play up to them last year and kind of try to double down and focus on what I need to do to get better and get back to where I feel like I can compete and win out here on a regular basis.

I know I can do it. Just a matter of making sure the body understands how to it again, and really trying to really enjoy my time out here. You know, you go through some slumps out here, not playing as well, and you can really beat yourself up. I'm really trying to enjoy every moment. That's how lucky I am, I get to do this for a living.
