Press Conference

Team Spain - 2

Team Poland - 0

THE MODERATOR: Well done to Team Spain. Back in the ATP Cup final two years later. We'd like to hear from Pablo and Roberto, your impression about your respective matches today.

PABLO CARRENO BUSTA: Well, it's easier to play with this guy in the team. We are lucky to have Roberto. Today he made an amazing match. My match was good. I made my job. I tried to be focused all the time.

They were unlucky with the positive, and they have to change the No. 2, but I just try to be focus on me and my tennis and do my work and win the point. I play good.

THE MODERATOR: Hubi and you both had incredible record at the ATP Cup and it was a great match.

ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT: Yes, it was a great match. I think sometimes both deserve to win but only one can get in, no? I think today I was lucky that I could won the match, 5 in the last tiebreak. I think I did a lot of things well. I deserve of course the win, and I'm very happy because the level on the court and the spirit, fight spirit was very good.

I'm happy because also Pablo played well. We could won 2-0, and we are very happy to be in the final. We will enjoy tonight the victory, but we have been in the final on 2020 and we will fight for the trophy on Sunday.

Q. Roberto, congratulations. You'll play either Russia or Canada. Would you like the challenge personally if it is Russia of playing Medvedev, the world No. 2?

ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT: I don't mind. I think both teams are very good. They have one of the best players in the world, and we have to be focused on ourself. I think Pablo and I, if we play well, if we are focused and we feel well on the court, we can win our matches.

That's our philosophy during all week.

Q. For the past five or six years, you really have an incredible record in January. Is there a reason for why you start the season so well?

ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT: Well, I think the conditions are good for my game. I also like to practice very hard on the offseason, and I don't know. I'm very motivated at the beginning of the season.

Q. Pablo, can you speak to your mindset when you learned that you were playing Zielinski, doubles guy, you going in as the overwhelming favorite to win that match? What was it like mentally to prepare for that match?

PABLO CARRENO BUSTA: Yeah, we didn't expect this, but, you know, you just try to be focused again. I never play against Zielinski. I didn't know him too much.

So I just try to do my game, to be solid, to be aggressive. Well, I know that if I play against Majchrzak, I was the favorite, also if I play against Zielinski. I just try to be focused on myself and try to do my best tennis.

Q. Finally, can you just talk a little bit about the energy, the atmosphere of being in the team zone tonight during Roberto's match. Did you give him any advice during the changeovers?

PABLO CARRENO BUSTA: Well, I was on the locker, on the Spain room, just preparing in case that Roberto lose because probably I have to play the doubles. So I was preparing the doubles when they were in the last set.

Of course you are very, very nervous, but we went to the court with 5-4, I think, just to try to support him, to finish the match with him. Well, in this occasion was good. He won the match. We won 2-Love, and now we can relax.
