SENTRY TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

January 6, 2022

Viktor Hovland

Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii, USA

Plantation Course at Kapalua

Quick Quotes

Q. Seems it didn't matter that your clubs took awhile to get here. Pretty good round to start things off.

VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah. No, it was nice. Definitely a good start. A little disappointing that I didn't shoot more than 4-under par. Putted so good the front nine, and then the back nine not so much, but that's how it is sometimes.

Q. It probably makes sense, there was a few just loose swings. Like you said yesterday, you would have liked to have got that rust off, so then one or two and it hurt you a little bit, but hopefully those will be gone going forward.

VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, I hope so too. No, I played with my caddie's clubs the first couple days and just kind of getting the rust off and I feel like I've been getting better every single day.

But it's definitely a little bit different in a tournament because then you got to think about the misses and the consequences, where to aim, and that's where the rust kind of shows up for sure.

But I think it doesn't take that much time to get back into it.

Q. Obviously today's the first round with the new green book scenario. Did you notice it? Was it a change for you?

VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, I just use AimPoint and just kind of feel it out. I don't really look at the books very much. So for me it doesn't matter that much.
