DAVIS CUP FINALS

November 28, 2021

Dominik Koepfer

Team Germany

Press Conference

J. RODIONOV/D. Koepfer

6-1, 7-5

Team Austria - 1

Team Germany - 0

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. I appreciate it's difficult after a defeat, but may I ask about your reflections on the match?

DOMINIK KOEPFER: Yeah, obviously bad start in the first set. He played well. I didn't compete and fight, and then second set I was pretty uncomfortable with the rallies, how they went.

Second set I tried, I fought, I fought until the end. Had my chances.

Yeah, he served himself out of the 5-4 game, and then obviously got broken at 6-5 and Love-30 and hit I think three or four first serves. So not the way I wanted to play. Didn't feel great on court today. I was pretty uncomfortable in the rallies.

Yeah, not a great start to the tie, but I'm sure Struffy and the dubs guys will get it done.

Q. You have got Struff and you've got faith in your team to sort of turn it around and take the win?

DOMINIK KOEPFER: Yeah, for sure. He's been very valuable player over the last few years. He won a lot for Germany. He competes hard every single match, and I know we can trust him. We had a good week of practice, and we played every single day together.

Yesterday obviously a tough one against Novak, can't expect him to win, but today I think, yeah, he just won the first set. So, yeah, it's looking all right. Hopefully he can get it done.
