DP WORLD TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

November 21, 2021

Matt Fitzpatrick

Dubai, UAE

Jumeirah Golf Estates

Quick Quotes

Q. Going out there today, deep down, did you believe you were still very much in this race, not just for The Race to Dubai, but also for the DP World Tour Championship?

MATT FITZPATRICK: I was only thinking about the tournament, really. I spoke to John Huggan yesterday and he asked me what I needed to shoot. I said, I thought if I shot 8-under, I might have a chance. And to be honest, if I had shot that, I think I would have had a chance really, but I think I'll be a couple light.

Just going out there and hoping to have a good round to finish my European Tour season, and yeah, it was.

Q. Collin is obviously playing quite strongly now. For a little while, everyone was getting the calculator out to figure out what it would be. What's your feeling? The last hole, we've seen a lot happen. Rory has made a bogey already on that hole this week. What's your feeling?

MATT FITZPATRICK: I think it will be a couple shots personally, or one, don't quite think it's enough. But I'd have take ten at the start of the day. I was really pleased with the way I played today. Just only really one bad shot, one really bad shot all day for me on 17 and just not a great drive on 16.

But other than that, I was really pleased with the way I played and it was nice to make some putts compared to the first couple days.
