Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Patty Tavatanakit after a 6-under 64 effort in the third round. What were some of the highlights of your day?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: You know, I started off really strong. Made some putts. Hit a bunch of good shots. Putts dropped and just got my momentum going there.

Q. Had a lot of putts drop today. How have you been feeling this week? You seem really comfortable out there.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, I'm pretty comfortable with my stroke and where I started. I been giving it really good reads and it's just one of those weeks where you can just read the greens.

Q. You know that you've got to win to be eligible for Player of the Year. Is that something that you feel like you played yourself into a possibility now?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I didn't know that.

Q. You have to win to be Player of the Year.

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Well, coming into this week I didn't really feel like coming into play, so it's good to know, but, again, like I don't -- it's not that I don't care. I'm just -- it's just my first year. I got Rookie of the Year. I don't want to put myself in a stressful situation.

I just want to go out there and enjoy.

Q. So you're satisfied no matter what?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah.

Q. It's been a year of second chances. Obviously get a second take at your rookie season, and it's been a solid one. What positives are you taking away from a year like this where you won Rookie of the Year and had an LPGA tour win already?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It's a lot to process after you said all that. But at the end of the day, I just focus on what I can do to be a better player and just focus on the shot in front of me and what's in front of me.

Those are all in the past now and I did some amazing things this year, but there is a lot of work to do to go up.

Q. Kind of talked about this yesterday, but to succeed this quickly on the LPGA is kind of a rare case. How does that kind of make you feel about where your game is, where you are in this game, and where you belong in the game?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: I feel like I've always had that in me. You know, like just started off turning pro, even when I was in college, it's just a matter of time. I never doubted myself that I'm going to struggle out here.

Just that mentality kind of makes me feel like I'm a little bit comfortable out here, not worrying too much about making cuts or making money. I just want to come out here and play golf. I know that if I do so I'll be able to do something good.

Q. When you play yourself into contention, do you feel as though you have another gear that you step it up to or another level of focus that you get into?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: Yeah, I guess like ANA was different and I had some tournaments where I was in contention and tried to get back to that focus and didn't really work, so I don't know. This week has just been light. I didn't really feel like I should be in contention. Just go out there and play golf with no expectations really.

Because it's like two tournaments left. I can't wait for off-season. I'm just here playing to finish wound by round.

Q. With that mindset heading into tomorrow, what are you going to be thinking playing your last 18 of this week?

PATTY TAVATANAKIT: It's been light and I just want to keep it light. I don't want to think about winning tomorrow, just because if it were to be mine, it will be mine tomorrow if I can hold putts, hit good shots, execute tomorrow.

If not, I'll just go out there and just finish another round and one step closer to off-season.
