ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2021

November 4, 2021

Dasun Shanaka

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Sheikh Zayed Stadium

Sri Lanka

Post Match Media Conference

Sri Lanka 189/3 (20) - West Indies 169/8 (20)

Q. You guys did really good job in qualifying rounds and this round you beast Bangladesh and West Indies, defending champions. How do you see the future of the Sri Lanka cricket team? But my next question is related to coaching role. Mickey Arthur will end his services by December. How hopeful are you that the Sri Lanka team will get another professional coach like him?

DASUN SHANAKA: Actually, Mickey's contract being negotiated. I don't know actually what is happening over there, so it's up to the Sri Lanka cricket board and the management.

When it comes to Nissanka (ph) they have been working hard throughout their careers. Starting on the 19th, when it comes to the team, and they will have -- whatever cricket they play, they will be amazing and they will be working really hard. Actually, they are doing their homeworks very well. So that's the reason they come, very special in the biggest stage.

So we have to keep them pushing and pushing through the areas that they need to concern more about in the future, so that is it. I think they have got a huge career ahead of them. So for the world cricket, they will perform well to that world cricket.

Going forward, they will be really good and they will be really competitive because they have got their own plans and their own goals. They know what exactly to do to come better in their game. So they will be really good in the future.
