Quick Quotes

Q. Really solid day today. Just take us through your round.

AGATHE LAISNE: Yeah, it was good. At the beginning I was kind of slow. I just parred a lot, but I was close to the holes. I was just not making putts. But I knew it was going to come, and I just stayed calm, and my caddie helped me. He was like, let's get this one done, and it came -- like two holes after he said it, and then he said it on that hole, as well, on 9, because I was pissed because it has more backspin on Panther than Bobcat, and he was like, you can still make it, and I made it, so that was cool.

I made on 10 one for birdie, as well. It was maybe 20 feet, so it was cool. Then kept on going, and yeah, it was great.

Q. Who's your caddie this week?

AGATHE LAISNE: A family friend, Gerard Zunz. He has been very good for me. Like on stage 1 he was there, as well. He's very calm and doesn't say much but knows when to say something. So that keeps me really good.

At the end of the round it was hot, so he had the umbrella, and it was fun.

Q. You graduated from Texas this year. Why Texas? What drew you to Texas?

AGATHE LAISNE: Academics really good in business, which I did finance there, so I was really happy with my degree, and also golf was a solid team. We were ranked No. 1 at some point, so I felt like it was really good for both of them. Yeah, the team was very fun, as well.

Q. And you were a pretty stout player, won a Big 12 championship individually. That experience at Texas, having those opportunities to play in those big events along with winning some big tournaments over in Europe, what has that done for your confidence?

AGATHE LAISNE: Good confidence, because I know a lot of college people come here and try to get their cards, and also Symetra, I didn't know the level of Symetra, but I think college is really strong, and when you can play really high-level tournaments, it helps you, and if you can play well, then it boosts your confidence, of course. So I'm happy I've done that.

Q. Your fellow countrywomen have been making a lot of noise recently with Celine winning on the LET and then obviously playing really well in the Solheim and then won again weeks later. Do you keep in touch with Celine at all? Does she reach out to you?

AGATHE LAISNE: A little bit. It's more like me reaching out to her saying, well done and everything. But, she is awesome for our country, and she's putting the level really high because, yeah, she won LET. The week before it was Solheim, and then it was the LPGA. I was like, she's not losing anyway. So it was cool.

Q. Does that kind of make you want to emulate her, kind of emulate her career?

AGATHE LAISNE: Yes, yes, of course, yeah. She is a double champion on the LPGA, and that's my goal, so yeah. It's motivating because she comes from the same country, so you know it's possible.

Q. Pauline Roussin Bouchard obviously was one of the better amateurs to ever come out of USC, is now a pro and has had a pro win already in her short time as a professional; do you keep up with Pauline at all?

AGATHE LAISNE: Yes, more with Pauline because we are the same age, so yeah, it was incredible that she won the LET. Also it was like, oh, it's actually possible. We are not that far -- the level is not that far. It just boosts everyone, I think, that all the players from France play well. So I like it.

Q. You had a good stage 1 showing. Coming into stage 2 was that a confidence boost for you, as well?

AGATHE LAISNE: Yes, I think so. Yes, yes, because I was talking to my brother, he was like, oh, what did you do. I said, I finished third out of 300, whatever, and he was like, oh, good, that's in the 1 percent. So I was like, oh, yeah, that's good.

Q. What's your brother's name?

AGATHE LAISNE: Mathieu.

Q. Headed into the weekend you're right there at the top of the leaderboard. What's your mindset heading into what's going to be a pressure-filled weekend come Sunday?

AGATHE LAISNE: Just do the same thing as I did and keep it going, keep it calm. Don't look at the leaderboard. Just fairways, greens. If I make the putt, good. If I don't, it's okay.

Q. What would it mean for you to be able to advance to Q-Series and have a chance at LPGA Tour status?

AGATHE LAISNE: It would be great. That's the goal. That's why I'm here. It would be good.
