BMW LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

October 21, 2021

Na Rin An

Busan, South Korea

LPGA International Busan

Press Conference

Q. Congratulations on a spectacular day here on the first day. Take me through what was working so well for you out there on the course.

NA RIN AN: I think overall today, even with my missed shots, I was able to make a nice recovery. And overall I was extremely satisfied with my putting. I think the putting went really well today, and that was behind my strong round.

Q. Congratulations on a strong round. This is an LPGA event. Personally, do you have any plans to perhaps join the LPGA Tour?

NA RIN AN: Actually, I applied for LPGA Q-School this winter, and I hope to do well there. And actually I started golf because I wanted to play on the LPGA Tour. So, yes, I hope to.

Q. I heard through the grapevine that you are preparing to make your way to the LPGA Tour. I have a question regarding today's round. Aside from the putting, what did you think worked well for your game today, I mean, for instance, did the course fit your game well? Can you please elaborate.

NA RIN AN: So overall, as I mentioned earlier, there were some shots that I missed, but I think in terms of getting out of the bunker and with my approach shots, I made a nice recovery. And I have to say that the putting really worked for me today.

Q. I think I might have to rephrase my question. So my question was in preparing for the LPGA Tour, do you think that you had a different mindset or specific goals, contending in this event, in this LPGA Tour event?

NA RIN AN: So I think when it comes to my mindset or my goals, they are largely the same regardless of whether I'm playing on the KLPGA or any other event. I think coming into this event, I hoped that I could win. So that is a hope for me at this point.

Q. So I have two questions. The first is if a Korean player wins this event, it will be the 200th win for a Korean player on the LPGA Tour. Were you aware of this fact? And you mentioned how you applied for Q-School in the winter. If you do win this event, though, you will be qualified to go straight to the LPGA. And I think that the two tracks might differ a little, so can you talk about that a little.

NA RIN AN: I just found out about the 200th win. So I was not aware.

And I think if I were able to get a ticket straight to the LPGA Tour through this win, that's all the better.

Q. You had nine birdies out there today. You said your putting was strong. What is it about this course you feel can really suit your game and that you were able to put together a round like this?

NA RIN AN: I think in the last event and in this event as well, the greens tend to be faster, and I actually like the greens to be a little fast. And I think because of that I was able to read the green better, and I was able to execute my readings basically on the green better as well.
