BMW LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

October 21, 2021

A Lim Kim

Busan, South Korea

LPGA International Busan

Quick Quotes

Q. A Lim, take us through this first day here at the BMW Ladies Championship.

A LIM KIM: I think I played a little easier because of the rain, actually.

Q. Have you ever played a course like this before? Have you ever played when you were playing over here on the KLPGA, or is this your first time at LPGA International Busan?

A LIM KIM: So I played this course at the 2019 BMW Ladies Championship. So this is my second time at this course.

Q. And what are some of the differences that you've seen between both years that the LPGA Tour has been here?

A LIM KIM: I think the course is almost the same. I think the grass is the same as well. I think they changed up the design on one hole. I think it's No. 13. I'm not quite sure. But I think, other than that hole, it's pretty similar.

Q. What did you like most about the course and the way that it played today? I know a couple players have been saying that it is one of those -- I don't want to birdie-fests, but definitely a lot of birdies out there for players.

A LIM KIM: So I think, thanks to the rain, I was able to be more aggressive with my putting, and I was able to really push it close to the pin. Normally I think this course, because of the grass and the green, it's actually more difficult to get it close to the pin.

But I think, thanks to the rain, it was a little bit -- it played a little bit easier today.

Q. And this is your first time back in Korea since you came back into the States after gaining membership on the LPGA Tour. I know we aren't able to do as many things because of COVID, but what has this experience been like, being able to return to your home country?

A LIM KIM: So I would have to say being able to eat all the food that I love has been great, and I was really happy to meet friends and family and especially happy to see my parents.

And I think just overall there's that level of comfort when you're in your own country. So I'm enjoying that.

Q. When did you first come over to Korea? Did you come over before this tournament?

A LIM KIM: I came three days before the event. So I still have to adjust to the time zone. I'm still jet lagged. I really want to go to sleep now.

Q. It seems like you played very well today. What worked for you?

A LIM KIM: I felt like it was a great fortune that it rained because the putting went really well, and I think this course, it's difficult to be -- it's really difficult to attack the course. And I think the rain helped, and I'm just hoping that the moisture from the rain today will be left for tomorrow.

Q. You went to the States, and I know that it hasn't been an easy year. So what kind of difficulties did you face over there?

A LIM KIM: Actually, I had a really, really happy year. I think I learned a lot, and I think that it's going to really help my career in the long run. I think the struggle that I had was that the grass was different every week, and I had to adjust to that.

But I think as a golf player I was just really proud of myself, and I was just really happy and proud to be able to play.

And I was able to meet really good fellow golf players. I was able to play at really nice courses, and I met good sponsors. So I think that I was overall very happy.

Q. So you said that it was really nice to see your friends and family in Korea. Did you miss anything about Korea in particular?

A LIM KIM: I have to say, frankly speaking, I didn't miss all that much about Korea because it was just overall the conditions there are really good and I really love golf and I played all the golf that I wanted to.

I guess the only minus would be that I wasn't able to see my father. And my younger brother is currently doing his military service, and I wasn't able to visit him. Those are the two things that were on my mind. But overall I really love being over there.
