Q. Take me through this first day here at BMW.

JU YOUNG PAK: So it was a perfect day, I have to say. Early in the game, my tee shots weren't that steady, but I managed to give myself a lot of birdie opportunities, and I did manage to catch those opportunities.

So I would say overall it was a good round.

Q. Could you walk us through some of the key holes during this round?

JU YOUNG PAK: I think No. 7, No. 7 is where I had the bogey. And it was raining, and I think I misread the grass speed. It was a really long putt, and I hit it too hard. But then afterwards I kind of got the rhythm of things and I could read the speed better.

And then in the No. 8 hole, I had a 15-meter par putt, and I succeeded that. And I think that that gave me the confidence to get consecutive birdies.

Q. You had a really good putting day. Do you think the course fits your game?

JU YOUNG PAK: I think that I wouldn't say that it fits my game particularly, but it's a LPGA Tour event, and I really try to enjoy myself. And there's no cutoff. So I was able to play with more confidence, and I think that fit my game.

Q. Several missed opportunities beforehand. Has that changed your mindset in any way, or did you change your strategy after those kind of opportunities?

JU YOUNG PAK: No, I would only say I think my mindset is the same, and I always play with the mindset that I'm a winner.

Q. What is your plan of attack for the next three days?

JU YOUNG PAK: This is four rounds that I have to play, and I don't think that one day's result means automatically translates to winning. So I think I have to take it day by day and focus on my game.

Q. I understand that your sister is also playing at this tournament. Did you meet her? Did you talk to her?

JU YOUNG PAK: I didn't get to meet her today. But she's family, and with family you don't necessarily have to meet up to know that you support each other.

Q. If you win or if any other Korean player wins, it's going to be the 200th Korean player win on the LPGA Tour. Has that entered your mind?

JU YOUNG PAK: In fact, I found out about that this morning, and I think it's really significant. Of course if I win and I can contribute to that, that would be meaningful, and it would be an honor. And I think that a lot of Korean players will do well.

So there is an opportunity that can happen. Of course, if it happened to me, that would be a great honor.

Q. You talked about doing what you have to do on the course. Can you be a little bit more specific?

JU YOUNG PAK: I think I'm trying to be less emotional, trying to get my emotions out of the way, just focusing on taking in the situation, making good choices and then playing and doing what I need to do in terms of putting and looking at lies.

So I guess I'm trying to focus on the formalities or what I need to do mechanically and trying to really not get too emotional or over-carried away.
