NL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: BRAVES VS DODGERS

October 20, 2021

AJ Pollock

Los Angeles, California, USA

Dodger Stadium

Los Angeles Dodgers

Postgame 4 Press Conference

Atlanta Braves - 9, Los Angeles Dodgers - 2

Q. Minus the outcome first, just coming off the bench to get that single, what did you see there and what allowed you to take that swing?

AJ POLLOCK: Yeah, I was just ready to get in there at any point, ended up being against Martin, was just trying to hit a line drive the other way and sometimes you do exactly what you want to do. So I wasn't trying to do too much with it.

Q. You guys have been in this position before, down 3-1. Julio just said it's about keeping your head up and just being prepared for everything. What is the mindset would you say for the team right now as you prepare for tomorrow?

AJ POLLOCK: No one needs to really tell anyone that we can do it. We've done it. We've been here. Obviously we got to grind tomorrow, but we win tomorrow, we're not in a bad spot.

So it's going to be a big day tomorrow. We got to regroup. We got to get after it and anything can happen if we win tomorrow.

Q. Not saying this is any excuse or any indication of what might happen moving forward, but I guess just what's your sense of how tired this group is? I mean, you guys were pushed to the limit at the end of the regular season, had to win a Wild Card game, had to go five really intense games in the DS, and now you're here. What is just the state of the team right now at this point?

AJ POLLOCK: Yeah, you know, I mean, every ball club that's here has gone through a lot of baseball. I wouldn't say that's it. Obviously we just got to execute. You can be tired and execute, so I don't think it has anything to do with being tired. Sometimes it's better, you get the question, and it's like oh they were pushed the entire way and maybe that's what drove them. So I don't really see that as something going on. Guys are showing up ready to play. We're excited to play and we just didn't execute.

Q. I don't know if you had a chance to catch up with Justin after the game, but did you get a sense for how he was feeling and what happened there on that sequence?

AJ POLLOCK: Yeah, we feel bad for Justin. JT's a warrior. Obviously you could see him walking off the field. It's not, you know, hamstring, so I'll let him talk to you guys about that. But, yeah, you never want to see your teammate go down. He's giving everything he's got, and it's weird, injuries, they stink. Both sides. I don't like to seeing their team or our team, it's unfortunate, but someone's got to step up and I have no idea what his situation is, his timetable, I have no idea.
