AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: ASTROS VS RED SOX

October 17, 2021

Luis Garcia

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Fenway Park

Houston Astros

Workout Day Press Conference

Q. Dusty told us you're feeling pretty good. Can you talk to us about how you're feeling today?

LUIS GARCIA: I feel really good. My knee yesterday was hurting a little bit, but today I feel really good throwing, and I'm good.

Q. When did your knee start to bother you yesterday?

LUIS GARCIA: When? Between innings.

Q. Dusty said it's something that had been on and off with you throughout the year. How bad has it been, and I guess when did the pain first start happening?

LUIS GARCIA: I was kind of dealing with that, like, the year long, I think, but it was something that I could control, and I don't know, yesterday was something different. That's why I came out of the game.

Q. Luis, when do you think you might be able to pitch again in the series?

LUIS GARCIA: I don't know. I don't know. I'm not sure.

Q. Are you happy or relieved that it wasn't anything bad, and it looks like you're going to be able to pitch more this season?

LUIS GARCIA: Yeah. I mean, I'm really happy that nothing is bad, and I think I'll be ready for the next one.

Q. (Question in Spanish).

THE INTERPRETER: Just how is he feeling in general, what kind of pain was it that he was feeling?

LUIS GARCIA: I felt good. Nothing too serious. I felt a pinch in my knee there that was more painful yesterday than normal, but everything is fine now, thank God.

Q. (Question in Spanish).

THE INTERPRETER: Dusty said he is not going to be removed from the roster, if that's a good sign that he will be able to pitch again in the series.

LUIS GARCIA: I feel really good, and I think whatever they say that it's time for me to get back on the mound, I'll be good to go.

Q. Yesterday didn't go the way you wanted it to go, but is there anything you can take from that and learn from and maybe make adjustments to if you face the Red Sox again this week?

LUIS GARCIA: I mean, yeah. I think yesterday I was really excited for the game. I was really ready for it. The homer happened. You know, all that stuff happened, but I was ready. After that inning happened what happened, and I think I can learn about that and get to the next game and just be ready.
