AL DIVISION SERIES: ASTROS VS WHITE SOX

October 12, 2021

Eloy Jiménez

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Guaranteed Rate Field

Chicago White Sox

Pregame 4 Press Conference

Q. What is the feeling with the team today? How are you guys kind of approaching this game and what kind of confidence do you guys have after the way Game 3 went the other night?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: Well, we feel good. You know, especially we play at home, and we got a lot of support from the fans, and that's great. We feel really good, and we're going to go out and compete like the last game.

Q. When you look at a pitcher in the same sequence as soon as you have now with McCullers, you have seen him. They've seen you. Where do you think the advantage is of seeing a pitcher this frequently, you know, in a short period of time, pitcher, hitter? What are your thoughts there?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: Well, honestly, I don't know because it's different days, you know? He adjusts. We adjust. I don't know. He is going to compete, and we're going to compete too, so I don't know.

Q. In Games 1 and 2, you guys had zero extra base hits and finally broke through in Game 3. I'm wondering, you know, when people talk about hitting being contagious, I'm wondering how is the confidence level for the offense, for the bats coming off of a game where you guys finally were able to get some big hits and score some runs?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: You know, it's fun when you play like that like we play the last game. And like you say, we finally get an extra base hit, and that's good. Like I say, we're going to compete. We're going to do our best, and we'll see what happens.

Q. Eloy, you always talk about your approaches, middle-middle way, and drilling that single to right center field the other night, is that a sign that you're kind of feeling your approach recently?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: Yeah, I've been feeling good. You know, I feel good. I am going to do. Like I say, I'm going to do my best. I think I'm good. I'm finally getting back to normal, and let's see.

Q. Eloy, I was just curious about you suffered that -- a serious injury in Spring Training. It was almost like a football injury, and you have looked 100% healthy. I'm just curious if there's any after effects, or do you still deal with anything that you feel from that yet, or are you completely rid of any discomfort there?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: I'm finally 100%. I feel good. No issues. No anything. I feel normal. Like you guys can see, I've been swinging with two, one hand, like always, so it's good.

Q. Just what kind of -- what has that process been of getting back to normal and feeling like yourself at the plate again?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: You know, it's been long. It's been up and downs, but finally feel good.

Q. Eloy, you guys have had so much success this season. You've had so much fun this season. How badly do you want this season to continue?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: How badly do you want to continue?

Q. It varies. What do you think?

ELOY JIMÉNEZ: I want to continue, you know. So we're going to do our best to keep the season going.
