NL DIVISION SERIES: GIANTS VS DODGERS

October 9, 2021

Julio Urias

San Francisco, California, USA

Oracle Park

Los Angeles Dodgers

Postgame 2 Press Conference

Los Angeles Dodgers - 9, San Francisco Giants - 2.

Q. How did you feel tonight out there against the Giants lineup?

JULIO URÍAS: I felt good. I thought the pitches were working really well. It's the fifth, sixth time I've seen them so it's a little bit trickier to get through that lineup, but I felt good. Offensively the team put up some runs and all in all it was a good game.

Q. You were able to get the RBI single there, kind of, and turned around in the dugout kind of helped to fire up your Club. Tell me what was going through your mind at that point and how much you felt that that fired up your Club.

JULIO URÍAS: Yeah, I was just trying to put the bat on the ball and obviously got a hit there. It was exciting to get the team going. I think they fed off that, a lot of energy after that, and then we produced after that.

Q. With the throw that Mookie made, as athletic as it was, do those plays still surprise you at all or is that kind of just Mookie being Mookie at this point?

JULIO URÍAS: Yeah, it was just Mookie being Mookie. Obviously when he makes tremendous plays, they're still spectacular plays to see. But when Mookie does them, it's kind of a little bit more expected. We kind of see it. And he had a tremendous game tonight.

Q. With the Giants threatening there when Mookie made that throw, just what did that do for your dugout in terms of being able to kind of throw water on that rally?

JULIO URÍAS: Yeah, those are big plays at big times. For him to make that play kind of shut down their momentum, shut down their turn, and I think that was what led to like the bullpen coming out and doing their job and executing the way that they did and our offense to come back and score a couple extra runs.

Q. (Question in Spanish.)

JULIO URÍAS: Yeah, I think it's just the adrenaline that kicks in. Obviously after they walked Pollock you kind of want to do a little bit better, you want to try a little bit harder and I think that opportunity kind of pushed me a little bit more to try to get a hit in that spot and it worked out.

Q. What is it about the postseason with you, it seems that your record is very good in it and you're very calm, I know that you had a good regular season but do you get extra excited or actually calmer for postseason?

JULIO URÍAS: I think it's just trying to treat it like another game. Obviously the game is a big game and the stage is magnified, but you just focus and you put your energy into that pitch, pitch by pitch and try to get the results you can, try to give my 100 percent every time I go out there and I think the results for today were good.
