Mountain Ridge Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Brooke Henderson who shot a 1-under 70 today. Still a couple strokes off the lead. Still in the top 10. Overall, how do you feel you played today?

BROOKE HENDERSON: It was a lot tougher out there today I found. I found it really hard to kind of get it going, get it rolling, but happy to finish 1-under for the day.

Excited for tomorrow. I feel like I'm still in a pretty decent position, so if I can get off to a fast start tomorrow, maybe some good things will happen.

Q. What was more difficult today?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Honestly, the wind. It played a huge factor. The last two days we've been really fortunate and there hasn't been any wind at all, so I felt like I could be really aggressive and attack pins.

Where today it was just a lot more adjusting and trying to be comfortable out there in those conditions. So I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring, but hopefully I'm ready for it.

Q. My joke before I turn things over to Steve is tomorrow going to bring the same caddie? Did Brian pass the test?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yes, he did. He did a great job filling in for Brit. Yeah, he had tough shoes to fill, but he did an awesome job.

Q. Good. You played in all kinds of conditions and played well. How is it that you adjust to cold, wind, and the soft fairways and hard greens that you've had this week?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, today right off the bat it touched my tee shot way more than I thought it would off the first tee. I was in the left rough and I wasn't used to that. All week we've been really fortunate with no wind. So it took a few holes to settle, but just really tried to pay attention to the trees and the flags and see which way they were switching back and forth.

You know, tried to talk about it with Brian as best we could and make smart decisions.

Q. How do you remain patient when you know 1-under is a pretty good score out here?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I know. I feel like I was just kind of treading water out there for a while. I looked at the leaderboard and I really was staying in a pretty decent position, so I figured if I could make a few more birdies then maybe I could climb up a little bit more.

So definitely played a lot tougher out there today. The scores show that. Hopefully tomorrow I can just make more birdies.

Q. Did you find yourself playing more to the center of the greens today on your approaches?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, definitely a lot more conservative than I was the last two days, so wasn't quite as fun as the other days. But at the same time, yeah, just tried to be smart about it, and hopefully tomorrow maybe attack a little bit more.

Q. There is a chance of rain coming, like 50% chance. How would that impact where you're aiming on the greens?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, rain will definitely be another factor we'll have to acclimatize to. I feel like it may make the greens a little bit softer, the fairways a little bit softer, so maybe you could be a little bit more aggressive and attack the pins. Might slow down the greens a little bit, too.

So possibly, depending on how hard it's raining, it could lower the scores. If it's raining very hard, then it could make the scores worse. I think we'll have to find out tomorrow before we tee it up.

Q. Finally, I saw you had a chance to talk with one of the Cognizant executives here a minute ago. Talk about what it means to have companies like Cognizant step up and support this event and the announcement with Chevron earlier this week, but specifically Cognizant, a big company that sees an opportunity to support women's sports and women's golf and actually acted on it?

BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it's amazing to have the support from these companies. To have them believe in women's golf and try to advance it to the next level is really cool. The purse size is very large this week. As you mentioned, Chevron, very large purse there, too. So it's very exciting. We are definitely trending in the right direction, and I'm just happy I'm a small part it of.

I thank these companies for making a big difference.
