SHOPRITE LPGA CLASSIC PRESENTED BY ACER

October 2, 2021

Brittany Lincicome

Galloway, New Jersey, USA

Seaview, A Dolce Hotel

Quick Quotes

Q. We are joined by Brittany Lincicome, a second straight round of 67 at the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer. A little more challenging conditions I would imagine than yesterday.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, it was. I thought early in the round I knew what we were going to deal with the wind, but I really thought the back nine, towards the end, it was going to die down a little bit.

That didn't happen, so couple bogeys there towards the end. But it's hard out there. It's not easy. And then like yesterday the greens are tricky to read. They are very subtle, so if you don't read them properly you'll miss the cut by a mile and then you're like, oh, my gosh.

So made some great putts. Obviously the eagle on the last was really exciting to finish my day.

Q. Take us through that. I saw you throw the ball at Missy. Could you just take us through the interaction and why the extra velocity.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, just having fun with each other. We had some bad clubs there coming down the stretch, made some silly bogeys. It was so into the wind on the last hole I didn't even know if we could get to the green, and we got really, really close, so I was super excited about it. I could obviously putt it.

Just said, Don't leave it short. It's uphill. Let's be aggressive. Sure enough, it went in.

Q. How long was that putt, the eagle one?

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Like 20 feet, 25 feet.

Q. What are your thoughts heading into tomorrow? I mean, Ko is the No. 2 player in the world; Park is the No. 3 player in the world. Kind of worked out the way it's supposed to. What are your thoughts on chasing those two tomorrow?

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, just got to go out and make as many birdies as I can.

Obviously both those players are doing that and they're awesome players, so they're not going to come back to me. I'm going to have to go chase them.

It's kind of more where I feel comfortable actually. I don't like being in the lead. I don't like all the spotlight being on me. So maybe I can come from behind and pull it off.

But definitely going to have to bring my A game. I went into today trying to shoot 4-under and I did it. Maybe I'm going to have to go a little deeper tomorrow.

Q. Is this a course where because of the par-5s and because eagle opportunities where you can see a couple shot swings, maybe a three-shot lead here is a little closer than a three-shot lead at another course?

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, absolutely. There are definitely the holes you have to play conservative depending on which way the wind blows tomorrow. Obviously par-5s, you have to birdie the par-5s or make eagle on them.

So my group today, both eagled a Par-5 and I made the birdie. I was like, Guys, I didn't know that was the thing. I didn't get the memo. Just got to take it low on the par-5s and make the birdies when you can for sure.

Q. You have Emery here.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah.

Q. How special is it to have her here? I know she came up to you after and said, Mommy done.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah, she was ready to go. She's ready for dinner. It's just cool to have her out. Like today she napped two hours, my first couple holes, and she's ready to go for the back nine.

She's a great cheerleader. She loves being out there and doesn't make a peep the whole round. Most two year olds can't be quiet for that long. But she loves golf and loves watching ma'am a play golf, so it's great.

Q. You're in contention to get your first win as an LPGA mom.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Yeah.

Q. Obviously she's here.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Uh-huh.

Q. You have your good friend on the bag. Seems to be a lot meshing together.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Absolutely.

Q. A lot of world colliding. The moment of having her here with you to show her, and she seems like she's at an age where she would understand what goes on.

BRITTANY LINCICOME: Oh, yeah. Yep. She knows. I think she would know. It's cool. When you get into contention at a tournament you never know which events your child is going to be at. Emery kind of picks and chooses which one she comes to. It's cool to be playing well, it's cool to have her here. I think it'll help me play better tomorrow.

I think it'll be really cool to have her on the green with me if I did win.
