ALFRED DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

September 30, 2021

Nicolas Colsaerts

St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

Quick Quotes

Q. Two eagles, 64, and you lead at the moment, not a round you'll forget any time soon?

NICOLAS COLSAERTS: Yeah, it's my lowest one at St Andrews, and I've come here with no game whatsoever. I haven't played golf in two weeks. I did a bit of work last week for Ryder Cup. Haven't played 18 holes in two weeks. Once you start to play well at the Home of Golf, it's a pretty nice feeling when you hit the shots and making two eagles on the two par 5s and birdie 18, you basically tick every box on the Old Course, which is nice.

Q. It would suggest your last couple events, the Italian and BMW you haven't come into this tournament with your best form. Have you taken inspiration from the guys over at Whistling Straits?

NICOLAS COLSAERTS: It's funny because I went to a couple Ryder Cups not playing, and the week after, I played decent without any form. So when you see the boys, is going there and playing what's possibly the best golf tournament on earth, yeah it brings back memories and reminds you of who you once were and it's somehow motivating yeah.

Q. You were on the commentary last week at Whistling Straits, you must feel like there's a lot more golf in you?

NICOLAS COLSAERTS: Yeah, of course there is. I haven't hit 40 yet. Still hit the ball nicely. I mean my whole career has just been like this. That's the type of guy that I am and the type of golf that I am. I've just got to dig deep at certain moments and maybe just not let go and know that there is still probably golf in me.

Q. This tournament is a very historical tournament. How do you keep any continuity given it's over three different courses,?

NICOLAS COLSAERTS: It's a little bit luck of the draw. You don't want to play in windy conditions and it's a couple of places that you might fancy a bit more. But it's an amazing week and I don't know how many of these I've played but I'm lucky enough to play with Tom Chaplin, a lovely guy. We played together a couple years ago. It's nice to be out in company of really, really cool people that you wouldn't get to meet on a daily basis. I think that's what stands out this week.
