Quick Quotes

Sunday Singles Matches

Q. Difficult match, crazy way to finish?

BERND WIESBERGER: Yeah, again it was like the first two days, the first two games I played. It's right there, think I'm up for the task and just lost a couple holes at the wrong time. I gave the par 5s away too easily. I didn't make a birdie on the par 5s.

That was the difference in the end. Felt I played better and felt my game is good enough this week to contribute. Disappointing I didn't. But yeah, still best week of my life.

Q. Disappointing, but you obviously played great golf this week and put in a great show for a rookie. How would you sum up the week?

BERND WIESBERGER: Yeah, it was great. It's tough to describe. First Ryder Cup, just so different, the camaraderie, the team room, the banter, the fun, the joy, even in bad situations like we had on the weekend was tremendous. And very honored to be part of this team, and I'm hoping that this is not going to be my last one. I'm going to push hard to be in plenty more of these. This is a lifetime week for me.

Obviously we came here with a different score line in the back of the head, but I think we were very close there. Just some key moments just didn't go our way, and that probably made it look a lot more comfortable in the score line than it felt like it was with a lot of games.

Yeah, just the way it is. We reset and we go again in 2023.

Q. I'm sure this isn't how you wanted your Ryder Cup debut to pan out. But your reaction at the end of what's been obviously a disappointing week for Europe?

BERND WIESBERGER: Yeah, as I said, we came here with a lot of pride and a lot of belief in the situation like we found it here on away soil; that we would be able to play good and have a chance to retain the Cup.

If you look at it, I think throughout the week, we were closer than the score would suggest. Just didn't go our way and didn't hole key putts in certain moments as I did in my games. It was a joy and a pleasure to stand alongside the 11 guys and Paddy and the vice captain and the whole team and give it our best.

I felt like I played decent golf this week, I really did. Good game against Brooks today. Obviously last two, great shot into 17.

It's disappointing because I felt like there was definitely some points out there for me, but you know, take it for hopefully another team in 2023.

Q. You were relaxed and ready and excited, and it all seemed to be in place, but this has been an irresistible force, the United States?

BERND WIESBERGER: Yeah, we knew they are a great team, and all respect to them. They out-played us this week, fair and square. But you know, we're going to reset. We're going to come back.

Q. Any special message for Paul Waring back in the studio?

BERND WIESBERGER: Yeah, I was listening to him yesterday on BBC; stick to golf.

Love the BBC. When I walked out yesterday, obviously walked with one group, and it was the easiest way to stay connected to everything happening life. So I choose the BBC over Sirius XM.
