Saturday Afternoon Four-balls

JOHN DEVER: Welcome to the 43rd Ryder Cup.

Q. How much did you enjoy that putt on 18 today?

SHANE LOWRY: I did. I really did enjoy it. You know, it's so tense out there, trying hard for your teammates. We did have a great day. We enjoyed it. Yeah, and Tony and Harris played well again. I played against him yesterday but I felt so calm.

I felt like it was a great opportunity to do something. When you're in a great frame of mind, that's the stuff you think about when you're over putts like that. It was great fun. I would enjoy it. But obviously we look like we're probably going to halve the session or not as many points as we would like.

But we're still not out of it. It's a long day tomorrow, 12 matches. If any 12 of us were going out against any of them in the match play, we would fancy our chances. We just have to believe. It's all about believing.

I read a quote last night, I was looking at stuff on my phone, and for some reason it popped up, and it was like if you've got a 1 percent chance, you have to have 100 percent faith. And I just think that we really need to live by that tonight and tomorrow and go out and give it our best.

Q. Your reaction on 18 was priceless. I guess you felt you really deserved that.

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, Shane played amazing today. Got us going. Kept us in it for large periods of the match. Personally I played a little bit better on the back nine and had a few important holes. But yeah, it was such a massive putt for him to hole. Obviously I made a mess of my situation, which leaves a little bit of a bitter taste. I guess I had my moment yesterday and I'm absolutely delighted for Shane today to hole that putt, such an important point.

Yeah, it means so much to the team to win another point.

Q. Fantastic 18 holes and momentous finish today. You're the underdogs tomorrow to win The Ryder Cup, but it's championship Sunday, and there might be a precedent with having a Lowry on a team that mightn't be fancied on a championship Sunday. Do you feel confidence that you might turn this one around?

SHANE LOWRY: You just never know. 12 players going against 12 of those players, you just don't know. If you can get off to a good start and get some blue on the board, we look like we're going to be 10 and a half and 5 and a half, and if we can win three or four of the games early on, you just never know. Golf is a funny game.

This golf course, personally I hope the wind stays open, I hope it's quite windy and go out and hopefully batten down the hatches and play some good golf. If you've got a chance, you just never know.

Q. You've been in some really tight matches the last two days. What do you make of the fans and how they are treating you guys?

SHANE LOWRY: Not much.

TYRRELL HATTON: I mean, look, we are the away team. So they are behind their guys. It's to be expected. And yeah, obviously they are cheering for them. The majority of the fans have been great, to be fair. I think they have been calling out some of the guys that have been chanting some, or using some interesting words, should we say, and it's just unfortunate that a few of them do silly things like opening cans at the top of your backswing.

It's a little bit unnecessary. Obviously you want to play a fair game, and rightly so, they are supporting their guys. And it's the same for us in Europe. We get the support when we are at home. So we expected a hostile atmosphere, and that's what we've got so far this week.

Like I said, the majority of the fans have been fine.
