Friday Morning Foursomes

JOHN DEVER: Welcome back to the 43rd Ryder Cup.

Q. Seven birdies in the foursomes match, that's pretty special stuff. What was it like having a Ryder Cup rookie, albeit a two-time Major Champion rookie?

DUSTIN JOHNSON: It was great. We knew we were going to play together, but obviously even though it's his first Ryder Cup, obviously he doesn't play like one, doesn't -- that doesn't matter. Obviously he's a great player. I feel like we're great partners, especially in the foursome matches. Yeah, it was great. We played really solid. Made a couple mistakes but other than that we played really well.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Dustin has been one of the best players in the world for a long time and to have someone like that, to have my first match in The Ryder Cup, I trust him a lot and it felt very comfortable.

Thankfully I've been able to build a friendship with him and it's very easygoing. We are out there playing like another day trying to win and make as many points and birdies out there and we just found a little groove.

Q. Curious how nervy is that first tee shot?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: You know, I'll be honest, I was actually more nervous at the Walker Cup, which is crazy. Obviously I've been able to play in a few big events so far the past couple years, but I just loved it. It was so fun, every part of it, obviously tugged it a little bit, wish I hit the fairway but it worked out. I guess I'm used to this, little 50-yard pitch shot uphill. I loved it and you are never going to get one again, but I'm going to remember that one forever.

Q. Quick one from each of you on the partnership and gelling well so far.

DUSTIN JOHNSON: You know, we both had similar kind of games the way we played, we both played a little left-to-right, obviously he's a really good iron play. I drive the ball pretty well, so I know if I can drive it in the fairway, we are going to shoot some good scores.
