Su Oh

Portland, Oregon, USA

The Oregon Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Nice round of 69 today. Just a few strokes off the lead, looking at tying your career best finish, you got to be pretty happy right now.

SU OH: Yeah, I mean, I'm glad I holed a few putts at the end, always nice finishing birdie, birdie and it's just a tough chip on the last. But I played with kind of a slow start and hung in there and just I holed a really good par putt on 6 and then I kind of got the round going a little bit and then stiffed one on 7 and then it was all -- I hit it pretty good today after that. A few more putts drop then I would have been closer, but still pretty happy with how I played this whole week.

Q. What was it about that putt on 6? Was that something that just kind of changed the momentum that saved you there?

SU OH: Yeah, I mean, I just, I mean 6 was playing so long today, I didn't hit my 5-wood, 5-wood for my second shot. And just holed like a 15-footer for parent, so that was all good one. Especially starting with a 6 on the first hole, started with a bogey, so, yeah, that was nice.

Q. You said you had birdies on the last two holes. Can you tell us about those?

SU OH: Yeah, so 16 I hit it to like 15 feet left and it was a big breaker, left to right, went in. And then it was even more break on the 17th, 7-iron again. And then it was pretty much the same kind of putt on the last as well, but it was a bit longer. But I actually hit a few like to six feet and I probably missed two from six feet today, but it's just like downhill and you can't hit them too firm, you can't get too -- you have to really like sort of baby it down there. So I feel like I holed more from 15 feet today than six feet. So yeah, that's my range.

Q. But we're hearing these even with all the rain the greens are rolling pure and beautiful out here.

SU OH: Oh, yeah, we knew it was going to be fast. I think because it was a bit softer that helped, but the fairways were softer also, so we had longer clubs into the greens. It was still playing really tough. I think we got pretty lucky with the weather today, so I think we're all glad we can get it done today.

Q. How did you spend the off day?

SU OH: I woke up and I have to check my e-mail because chances are we might be delayed. And it was like two-hour delay and I was like, Okay I'll sleep a little bit more. And then the whole day got cancelled so I just felt like I had missed the cut, I just felt like I had to do nothing. So we went shopping a little bit. We got Korean barbecue last night so that was really good. So I came out to putt a little bit, and that's it. Pretty easy. I think it was nice having a day off, but it was also very weird.

Q. What is that like, you build the rhythm of the week up and then all of a sudden it stops, but it's not like but you didn't miss the cut, you still got to go back and do it again?

SU OH: Yeah, exactly. I mean it's definitely different. But I think we're all pretty used to playing golf, so it's not going to be new out here. Maybe since it's such a hike of a golf course maybe it was nice having a day off. I just came out to putt because I didn't really putt that well on Friday. But it was kind of nice in a way and a bit strange in a way. I guess everyone that doesn't finish first wishes there's another day tomorrow, right? So, but still second is not a bad finish, so best one for the year, so hopefully get some momentum going into the next few tournaments.

Q. What can you tell us about the beauty of Oregon and your experience coming to this state?

SU OH: Probably food. Culture. Good golf. I mean, I always, even when we were playing on the other golf course there was a cafe called Proud Mary that I went there every day like to get coffee because it's like an Australian-owned cafe. I haven't found one over here. But we know the food's going to be good this week, golf's good, the views are nice, so it's a little bit hilly, but still nice, yeah.
