Jenny Shin

Portland, Oregon, USA

The Oregon Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Jenny Shin, who shot a 1-under 71 today. Opened with a couple bogeys but played really well on your back nine. Tell us what turned it around for you.

JENNY SHIN: It's I think the front nine. I think yesterday I was birdie free on the back nine as well. Or was that the back nine?

Q. You were birdie free on the front nine, yeah.

JENNY SHIN: Yeah, I think I'm struggling the front nine a little bit. Not sure what's the reason why. It was playing incredibly tough today. There is a lot of wind. Greens are still fast and the golf course is drying up a little bit, too.

There were definitely hurdles, and missed few putts on the front nine. No. 9 was a heartbreaker. I was only like three yards away and I three-putted that. That was really tough to get myself together.

But had a pretty good attitude coming up on the back nine, and started off with a birdie on 10 and I played pretty solid.

Q. Take solid golf any day. How was the wind a challenge? Someone told me on the front nine it kept swirling and coming from different directions. How do you figure that out mentally when you've got it changing all the time?

JENNY SHIN: Yeah, it was definitely different too because it was different than yesterday, but it's really in the moment. You just got to trust what you have at the moment and just kind of go with it.

Obviously there were a lot of, What do you think, What did you think with my caddie, but in the end I think we made pretty good decisions and pretty happy with the result.

Q. Awesome. Good result today. Just a couple strokes off the lead. What are you hoping to do this weekend knowing that it's going to be different again tomorrow and Sunday with the weather?

JENNY SHIN: I just can't make mistakes, you know. As hard as it sounds, I think minimizing bogeys and making my inside five-footers and making the birdies on the par-5s are going to be crucial because they are reachable and pretty doable. Just got to do what I been doing.
