THE MODERATOR: Tell us your thoughts about today's match and your perspective on your level of play.

LAUREN DAVIS: For the most part I thought I played pretty well. Came out pretty strong in the first set, pretty aggressive. But in the second set I had a little bit of a lag. My nerves kind of got the best of me.

But then I went to the bathroom after the second set and kind of regrouped, gave myself a little pep talk, then came out swinging again.

THE MODERATOR: Your thoughts about moving to the second round in a Grand Slam?

LAUREN DAVIS: Yeah, playing at the slams and winning is always something super special. I think I'm playing well. I feel pretty confident. Yeah, I'm really excited to progress here at my home slam.

THE MODERATOR: Playing in front of actual, live people as opposed to just seats, which has been normal for the past 18 months.

LAUREN DAVIS: Yeah, it's so much fun playing in front of fans again. You realize how much we took it for granted. But it's definitely super special playing here in the States, in New York, and having most of the crowd behind you. It's definitely something to remember.
