Quick Quotes

Q. Pat, you've been on both sides of these things. What did it come down to this weekend?

PAT HURST: I think we got behind the 8-ball the very first foursomes, and that's just -- we fought our way back.

I mean, it's still going to be pretty close, but it's not good enough.

Q. You told me about an hour and a half ago that we need help, and you said you've got to flip some of these matches. You did, didn't you?

PAT HURST: Yeah, you know, I was hoping to see a lot of red in the beginning just to kind of put it up on the board for everyone to see, but it is what it is.

They played hard, they played with heart, and that's what we were asking for.

Q. When you first started in 1998 this was a very different competition. A lot of the European players didn't play in the U.S.; these players know each other. What was the ultimate takeaway do you think from this weekend?

PAT HURST: Oh, both sides they're awesome players. Women's golf has -- the level of women's golf is just unbelievable now, and it's just going to get better, and that's what this is all about again.

Solheim Cup is -- it's the best thing in the world. It's fun, it's the team play. It's just -- we love to do it every two years, and the competition is just getting that much stiffer.

Q. It's a long eight years for you, three times as an assistant, now as the captain. Congratulations.

PAT HURST: Thank you. I had a lot of fun.
