Pat Hurst

Toledo, Ohio, USA

Inverness Club

Team USA

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We're here with USA Captain Pat Hurst. It was a long day since we all got here bright and early this morning; that first tee was rocking. But I know it's been kind of a back and forth day for your team. What's your big takeaway from today?

PAT HURST: We came back in the foursomes, which was nice. We had four of our matches in -- well, actually seven of the matches went to 18, but four of the matches in the foursomes went to 18, so it could have went either way.

It happens that it didn't go our way this morning, but like I said, we got a couple points back in the afternoon. We actually got, I think, three.

Q. You got a number of points back in the afternoon; won two matches. What do you see from your team that makes you most confident as you head to tomorrow with a little bit more momentum from the morning?

PAT HURST: Yeah, we're leaving on a good note tonight, so looking forward to playing tomorrow. Like I said, it was pretty close in the morning. We're looking to see how it's going to be in the morning.

Q. We're going to have you go through your pairings for tomorrow. Off in the first pairing at 7:15 you'll have?

PAT HURST: Danielle Kang and Austin Ernst.

Q. Then off at 7:27?

PAT HURST: Will be Lexi Thompson and Brittany Altomare.

Q. At 7:39?

PAT HURST: Will be Nelly Korda and Ally Ewing.

Q. And 7:51?

PAT HURST: Will be Lizette Salas and Jennifer Kupcho.

Q. Lizette and Jennifer had quite a pairing in the afternoon. What do you see in Jennifer that brings her out again for you tomorrow?

PAT HURST: Well, I think they both enjoy playing with each other and they wanted to go out again, so we're more than happy to put them out again.

So that's why we're doing that.

Q. Just on the controversial ruling, what did you see on that?

PAT HURST: I was on the par-3 so I didn't get to see anything. Really haven't been able to talk to the team at all. I did the pairings and basically the team is already gone, going back to the hotel, so I haven't had a chance to even talk to anybody.

I know that the ball was overhanging the hole by a little bit, and they picked it up. It was just an unfortunate situation that had happened. We want to just move on from that.

Q. You said you talked to the team a little bit. Have you given them any advice or counsel on going into tomorrow with the deficit? What do you say to them?

PAT HURST: Yeah, I haven't talked to them yet. I'll talk to them when we get back to the hotel after dinner. Just do what they've been doing. They're playing fine. Like I said, it could have went either way. I don't want them to be down on themselves.

Like I said, they're playing great. If they just go out and play like they know how to play, we'll do fine.

THE MODERATOR: Pat, thanks so much. See you tomorrow.
