CURTIS CUP

August 27, 2021

Rachel Kuehn

Jensen Castle

Conwy, Wales, UK

Quick Quotes

Q. Must be really satisfying to level up the Curtis Cup with a 3 and 2 win. Rachel, how do you think it went?

RACHEL KUEHN: We played super well, we really fed off each other and we ham and egged really well. When one of us was out of the hole, the other was putting for birdie and we holed a lot of putts. They played great but we just kind of had it going today.

Q. You seemed to have really control out there all the way around, and you finally got it done on 16.

JENSEN CASTLE: Yeah, we both fed off each other and, I mean, everything was going to happen, like there was putts that we missed and we knew eventually they were going to fall.

Q. That putt to seal it as well, talk us through that one.

JENSEN CASTLE: So I chipped it about what, 10?

RACHEL KUEHN: 10 feet.

JENSEN CASTLE: And then she hit a great putt from where she was, she just had that huge slope on the back of the green. And she probably had about nine, just literally just inside and she's like, Do you want to go? And I'm like, Yes, I see it, I already know it's in, like I got it. And sure enough right before I lined it up I looked at Rachel and gave her a smile and I putted it and I knew it was in.

Q. Rachel, you've beat two really good players that had really good weeks last week at Carnoustie, must be really satisfying.

RACHEL KUEHN: Absolutely. I mean, we were following from back home, obviously I'm good friends with Lauren and met Louise today. But it was really impressive what they did last week and we knew that they were hot going into this week and it feels nice to be able to put a point up on the board for the U.S.

Q. That levels up the Curtis Cup now at 5-all with two games left this afternoon. Who knows what the outcome might be come the end of the day, but what does that leave now for the singles tomorrow?

RACHEL KUEHN: We started the day down and obviously didn't have our best stuff yesterday as a team and came out this morning swinging and closed a little bit of the gap. And to know that we were able to close it all the way and hopefully the girls that are still out there can bring it home, it's a really cool feeling.
