Quick Quotes

Q. What's the biggest difference, eagles back-to-back?

JORDAN SPIETH: Yeah I'm still struggling a little bit to really get a nice motion on the swing. I feel it was weird, I didn't hit a lot of great shots today from outside of 150 yards, even to the tee, but then you know, wedged it beautifully, was patient, when I drove it in a couple lips of some fairway bunkers and had to punch out and make par, par save kept me going.

I didn't have many putts outside of five feet because I didn't play normal golf today. It was just kind of one of those days where you probably won't get away with that throughout weekend. But just chipped the ball unbelievably well and then it led to at least some short par putts and then took advantage when they were for birdie.

Q. What are you trying to feel in your swing?

JORDAN SPIETH: I'm just getting a little quick in tournament play versus when I was at home working on it. Slowing down, staying in front of the ball. Actually the last probably from 13 on, I put some really good swings on it today and then yesterday on the back nine I put a lot of good swings on it. I had a stretch there of nine holes yesterday where it DOESN'T lead to a lot of birdies.

But I hit a lot of good shots. I'm glad, the swing is finishing up today, I hit a lot of good shots. So I might go just hit a couple on the range to cool down a little and see if I can get my tempo down. Unfortunately after one hole today, I was worried about the cut, so now, able to sleep in a little on the weekend is nice.

Q. Does Michael still have a bet on hole-outs?

JORDAN SPIETH: No, we should. We probably stopped that three years ago for some reason. I'm not even sure what the number was. But this year, I would have gotten double if it's outside of like a hundred yards, I have had a couple of those.

You know, when things starting to well, you go on a run, right. You get momentum and the ball finds the cup and when it's not going well it seems to, it bounces the wrong way. I feel like I'm on the right side of some momentum right now and I just have to keep it going.

Q. Brooks was in here earlier and made a comment, he considers himself even-keeled but likes a partner who is more motional. Do you have a personality preference, the people you play with?

JORDAN SPIETH: Well, in The Ryder Cup I've only had two now with Patrick and Justin, and I would say actually they are pretty equal on the fiery scale I guess, if that's how you describe it, the ups and downs. I don't think I have a preference.

I really enjoy -- I've had some success in the team matches. I've got to find a way to get that into my individual matches in the team events. Seem to kind of just -- it's hard when you have somebody else you're getting so pumped up with, whatever it is, but I like having someone that gets really fired up for sure.

Q. When golfers have good luck, bad luck, at the end, do you think it's all 50/50, equal?

JORDAN SPIETH: It's weird, it's like you just, always kind of focus on when you get a bad break versus the good one. I would imagine, yeah, it evens out.

I think of that as like the draw the first two days for your career, it will probably even out. You just hope that you get the Open Championship, you get more good ones than bad because that's normally the most significant difference of any tournament.

As far as breaks on course, yeah, I mean, I would think over the course of I think when you get done, you look back and you're like, all right, yeah, it's probably 50/50.

Q. Do you have idea how many course records you hold?

JORDAN SPIETH: I have no idea, no. Xander shot 62 in front of us, right? So that ties him and whoever else has it. Did Brooks shoot 62, 63? I saw he was 8-under. I didn't know if he got to 9.

What was today, 9?

Q. He was 7-under today.

JORDAN SPIETH: So I just saw on the board it said Brooks Koepka challenging the course record. It was there today. The 8-unders that were shot yesterday were better than our 9-unders today, without a doubt. I thought we had the good draw, yet that golf was played from the other draw. It was pretty special.
