AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 19, 2021

Ayaka Furue

Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. You must be pretty pleased with your start even though you're 2-over par.

AYAKA FURUE: 2-over, her shot wasn't very good, and she was in a lot of bunkers.

Q. And how difficult did you find the weather conditions this morning?

AYAKA FURUE: She wasn't too concerned about the weather. She thought it would be a lot more windy. It wasn't. As the day went on, the winds kind of died down.

Q. You had some birdies and some bogeys. It was a mixed round. What was the highlights of your round? Did you have any kind of key putts out there?

AYAKA FURUE: On the 8th hole, she made a long putt for birdie. That was good for her.

Q. A lot of people say Carnoustie is one of the most difficult courses you might play. How did you find the challenge?

AYAKA FURUE: Very difficult course.

Q. And what are your hopes for the rest of the championship?

AYAKA FURUE: Try to fix her bad shots from today and do better things tomorrow, and play a round great tomorrow.

Q. What is your previous best experience for being in Scotland or Great Britain for your golf?

AYAKA FURUE: First time for her to be here.

Q. Fantastic. Have you enjoyed being in Scotland and the hospitality you're enjoying?

AYAKA FURUE: I'm enjoying it very much.

Q. What have you liked most about Scotland?

AYAKA FURUE: Long days, light until late. It's something she's not used to.
