Dumbarnie Links

Quick Quotes

KELSEY MacDONALD: Four rounds together under par -- yesterday was level but I'm glad that fared well in the end.

Q. Responded every time did you have a problem, you responded quickly to the doubles Friday and Saturday?

KELSEY MacDONALD: Yeah, the cold Kelsey would have got a bit frustrated but you know there's opportunities out there. So just got it back as quickly as I could and was able to press on.

Q. When did the old Kelsey become the new Kelsey?

KELSEY MacDONALD: I would say to be honest, actually, just this year with COVID and everything, it's been difficult. I think you are just realising that there's more to life, really. So just a better attitude.

I mean, it's good to get frustrated but as long as you use it in a good way.

Q. Obviously giving you a taste for more. You'll be in next week presumably.

KELSEY MacDONALD: I hope. I've been caught short every single time getting into The Open by one shot or by a couple spots on the Order of Merit. If I can get in this week, that would be fantastic.

Q. Great for morale.

KELSEY MacDONALD: Shows that you belong up there, that's good.

Q. The cheer at the end with all the people?

KELSEY MacDONALD: Yeah, I left quite a lot of putts short today. Really struggled with lag putting, so it was good to get that two-putt out of way.

Q. As you say, your game's been trending in the right direction.

KELSEY MacDONALD: Yeah. I'm happy.

Q. You've been on Tour awhile but it takes people time sometimes to make breakthroughs here and there.

KELSEY MacDONALD: Exactly, just getting top finishes, I've had quite a few Top 10s. It's just about getting to that next level and hopefully a win is just around the corner.

Q. Comes the day after Hannah winning. Seems to be a good crop of young girls coming up.

KELSEY MacDONALD: And obviously Grant Forrest winning, as well.

Q. He just won again.

KELSEY MacDONALD: Did he? Brilliant for Scottish golf, good to see.

Q. Straight to Carnoustie?

KELSEY MacDONALD: I'll take a day off. I had to go and hire a car because my car is not well.

Q. How much do you think having things like VisitScotland have helped this crop come through? Do you think that's made a big difference?

KELSEY MacDONALD: Huge. Huge. Just the opportunities for everyone to play, I think that's massive.

Q. What sort of opportunities, like the invites?

KELSEY MacDONALD: Yeah, invites and making sure that the training programme, that there's money put in there and that they go from the next level or to the next level.

Q. And how much did the Solheim Cup and securing the future of The Scottish Open, do you think that inspires you?

KELSEY MacDONALD: Because I played The Scottish Open as an amateur and I know that this was a few girls playing as an amateur when it was more of a team Pro-Am format and now The Scottish Open, it's like a major now, so it's completely excelled from that point. There was three invites this week that went to Scottish players, and you just hope that that continues and the amateurs get a chance to play.

Q. And talk about winning the Jock MacVicar Award?

KELSEY MacDONALD: Yeah, that was high on the priority list this week. It's just great to be the first name on that trophy. You know what a gentleman he was, so it's great to have. It's an amazing tribute and to be part of, and Dumbarnie has been a fantastic test, as well, so I'm sure he would be absolutely delighted with how this week's gone.
