ISPS HANDA WORLD INVITATIONAL

July 31, 2021

Su Oh

Northern Ireland

Galgorm Castle & Massereene Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. I don't know if the leaderboard will change too much. It seems like it's playing fairly challenging out there?

SU OH: Yeah, the same as yesterday, except I and I guess Atthaya maybe, we were on not such a good side of the draw. But I think it was kind of nice getting a bit of a feel. But it was harder out there, it was a bit windier and a bit colder. I don't know, I just got a couple of lip-outs and I couldn't really get anything going on the front nine.

Q. You were in the morning yesterday?

SU OH: No, I was in the afternoon.

Q. Why was it the bad draw?

SU OH: Because the scores were not so good on my side. Because it was windy yesterday afternoon.

Q. You had a bogey-free back nine today, though.

SU OH: Yeah.

Q. How big was that I would say to set yourself up? I'm just looking at the leaderboard, the lead is 11, there's four people at 11, two at 10 and a couple at 9. There's a lot of bunching. How big would you say that would be? I'm sure it might change a little bit this afternoon but not a ton.

SU OH: Yeah, I'm just happy I finished well today because I felt like I wasn't that far off. But just at the start I got off to a bit of a flat start. Hopefully tomorrow I get off to a hot start and just have a hot round.

Q. Is it easy to get off to a fast start?

SU OH: No, it's gettable, but I think just the wind and just the ball is just rolling out a little bit further away from the hole, so you just have a few extra feet, and it just makes it a little bit tougher, I think.

Q. Would you say you survived the conditions for two days and it'll help you for tomorrow?

SU OH: I think so. I feel like -- I don't know what the forecast is like but I assume it would be similar, so kind of got a good feel for it out there today. Hopefully it'll be the same wind. Might come out tomorrow and be completely opposite wind, which will not be very good, but --

Q. It's been the same both days?

SU OH: Very similar, yeah.

Q. What's the hardest stretch out there that could make or break a round, especially a final round?

SU OH: I think maybe the first few because you're losing a stroke if you don't birdie 1 and 3. I mean, I bogeyed 1 yesterday and parred it today.

Q. You saved the birdies for tomorrow.

SU OH: Yeah, I hope so. Being a few shots back I definitely have to get off to a good start.

Q. There's a lot of birdies out there?

SU OH: Kinda. But it's not like given to you. You have to work really hard for it, but it's there, I think. Just depends how they set up the golf course, I think, if we can reach the par-5s. I reached all the par-5s in the practice round and then I can't reach most of it in -- I can reach 1 and 3 obviously, but the rest is kind of tricky.

Q. What would a win mean for Su Oh?

SU OH: That would be nice. There's a few shots back, but I don't know, it's kind of too early to think about it, I guess, but it would be nice.

Q. Is it something you -- just looking at the leaderboard, when you look at -- it's not your typical field, six of the top seven would be first-time winners right now when you look at a leaderboard like that. Do you think anything can happen, especially when there's that kind of -- I don't want to call it inexperience, but --

SU OH: Yeah, they're all really good players, obviously, so I think we're all fighting pretty hard for that first win. We'll see how it goes.

Q. Just try to stay warm, right?

SU OH: Yeah, it got a little chilly out there, but kind of know the part really. Once you hole a few putts, you're like, okay, this is good.

Q. Any Aussies near or around your group today, males?

SU OH: I don't know. A lot of them -- half of them missed the cut. I don't know. I think the only one making the cut was maybe Blake Windred. But I think he might have played in the morning. I don't really know.

Q. So no one near you?

SU OH: Not that I saw, no.

Q. Anything that I'm missing that you want to share with me, anything that was on your mind about the tournament, the round tomorrow?

SU OH: No, not really. I don't know what the tee times are going to be like. I assume it'll just be --

Q. Honestly they're twosomes off 1.

SU OH: Oh, wow. That's weird.

Q. I think, because they make another cut tonight.

SU OH: Right.

Q. So there will only be about 70 players.

SU OH: That will be interesting. I think that's different. Twosomes. That would be kind of weird. You're so used to playing in threes. I feel like if it's twosomes I'll be the fifth group back instead of being the third group back. It will be a bit strange. So I guess that could be a bit different.

Q. Just with the men --

SU OH: Yeah, if you mix the men and women, yeah, hopefully I'll be early and there won't be as much wind.

Q. So you're kind of rooting for a couple people to maybe find a couple birdies out there to --

SU OH: No, no, no. They should stay the way it is.
