Quick Quotes

Q. You just shot a 61. That's pretty awesome.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah.

Q. How are you feeling right now?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah, it was so amazing. I didn't feel my best. My swing still not perfect, but I try focus on one shot at a time and my backswing shape and rhythm. I focus on just process. I didn't dwell on the results. I focused on the process.

Yeah, that's it.

Q. Okay. When you started your day today were you feeling really good? Did you feel you had a round like this in you?

JEONGEUN LEE6: No, not much different. Just same yesterday. But I had a lot of birdie chances, but I could play easily and my putting was really, really good, so, yeah, that's it.

Q. Absolutely. It's kind of a joke, but what did you have for breakfast to start this day off?

JEONGEUN LEE6: I had just bread and eggs, scramble.

Q. Perfect. Breakfast of champions. You started on No. 10. Do you mind taking us through the scorecard which you have in front of you and talk us through your round? So you started on No. 10 and you had birdies on 11 and 12. Can you tell us about the birdie on 11?

JEONGEUN LEE6: No. 11 I hit the great tee shot and then second shot was maybe 117, so I hit the pitching wedge, the full shot, so really good shot. And then birdie putt was two or three meters; I made it.

Q. And then another birdie on No. 12.

JEONGEUN LEE6: No. 12 tee shot was a little bit miss and right side. Then I have maybe 120 to the pin, so I had 9-iron, but the ground slope is strong, but I made the cut shot and then three or four meters birdie putts; I made it.

Q. Then pars. How boring. Then you had birdies on 17 and 18.

JEONGEUN LEE6: 17 tee shot I hit the 3-hybrid and then the pin was maybe 115, so I hit the pitching wedge. But hit a little bit left, so the long way. Birdie putt was eight meters; I made it.

And then 18, tee shot was really good and then I hit the 4-iron second shot, miss shot to the left. Third shot is little flop shot, and then five meter birdie putt; I made it.

Q. Okay. At that point through the turn you had one, two, three, four birdies. Were you feeling really comfortable with your game at that point or did you feel you had more in you?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Where?

Q. At this point you're making the turn after nine holes; shot a 32. Did you feel really comfortable with your game?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yes, I felt I could make more birdie chances new nine.

Q. New nine, exactly. So you had another birdie on No. 1.

JEONGEUN LEE6: No. 1 driver really good and then second shot 117, so pitching wedge. Then three meters birdie putt; I made it.

Q. Pars on 2 and 3 and birdie on No. 4.

JEONGEUN LEE6: No. 4 driver is really good and then No. 4 is really tricky hole. Yeah, so second shot is long iron, 5-iron. Hit really good. And then three meters; I made it.

Q. Then you went on the tear at the end. Four birdies to close the round. Start with No. 6, the par-4.

JEONGEUN LEE6: No. 6 3-wood tee shot really good and to the pin 125 meter; hit the 9-iron. Then eight meters birdie putts; I made it.

Then No. 7 I hit the driver and then second shot 191 meter to the pin. 3-hybrid control shot, really good.

Q. Then No. 8.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Then No. 8 I hit 6-control. I tried 6-control but little cut the miss shot, but chip in. It was amazing.

Q. Uh-huh.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Then last hole tee shot was little miss shot right side, and then second shot I did layup and third shot to the pin is 96 meter. I hit the 50 wedge. Yeah, and then four or five meters; I made it.

Q. Okay. It was amazing.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah.

Q. When you were in this last stretch did you know that you were getting close to 61, close to the record?

JEONGEUN LEE6: On No. 6 I had more three holes but two holes is par-5, and so I thought I made two more birdies, but number hole 8 chip-in was really lucky, yep.

Q. 8 was special.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah.

Q. Were you trying to get in it or were you just trying to get it close?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Oh, no, I try just close. Yeah, a little bit tricky and then, yeah, ball was in the rough so...

Q. When you were over your putt on No. 9, the last putt, knowing it was for birdie for 61 were you nervous? Were you just...

JEONGEUN LEE6: No, I wasn't nervous. I tried my best. Just I focused on speed.

Q. And you've got David sitting right here. How much of a help was he? How much were you relying on his help?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah, these days I'm happy a lot on the course thanks to my caddie. I usually -- I didn't -- I don't usually laughing on the course. Yeah, but he similar to my sense of humor, so, yeah, he's the best.

Q. Good. Helps keep you loose out there, fun?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah.

Q. Did you know before the round about Hyo Joo's 61?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah.

Q. So you knew what the record was?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah.

Q. How cool is that that you're tied with Hyo Joo for the lowest round of golf at a major, man or woman, ever?

JEONGEUN LEE6: What an honor. Yeah. It's amazing.

Q. Is it something you ever thought you could do? Did you think you could do it ever? Was it something that crossed your mind?

JEONGEUN LEE6: My best score is 60 in Korea. Yeah, I have lowest score in the Korea.

Q. So you've been better than this, but this is at a major.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah, but in the LPGA first time, yeah. It's very huge honor.

Q. I have to say this interview has been fabulous. Your interview and Jerry was fabulous, your English. I know it was a goal for you to keep working on it. Are you still working on English lessons, practice?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah, I'm practicing English once a week every week.

Q. Okay.

JEONGEUN LEE6: My teacher from Canada, yeah, she's very nice. Yeah, I'm learning a lot from her.

Q. Good, good. You're learning beautifully. You play very well at majors. Do you feel more challenged at majors? What about majors seems to bring out best in you?

JEONGEUN LEE6: I don't know. Major tournaments is more pressure and more, yeah, a little bit nervous. Course condition is a little bit tough, so, yeah, I focus -- I'm going to focus on just swing rhythm and then not too much thinking on the course.

Q. Awesome. Are you going to celebrate this tonight?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yep.

Q. As much as you can when we can't go out.

JEONGEUN LEE6: I need delicious food.

Q. Yes, I see David has baguettes for you. The baguettes are my favorite thing. Is this day as special as I think it is? This day seems very special.

JEONGEUN LEE6: Yeah, very special.

Q. One of your best golf memories perhaps?

JEONGEUN LEE6: Today? Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Best memories, yeah.
