THE 149TH OPEN

July 18, 2021

Adam Scott

Sandwich, Kent, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Adam, thank you so much for joining us. 68 to finish here at The Open. Can you reflect on your day?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, I got off to a good start today, birdie-birdie, and then just kind of managed my way round from there. You know, when you momentum going at the majors it's hard to really get it going or keep it going.

That was kind of the story of my week. Of course I didn't swing the club as good as I wanted all week. You know, overall it's bit disappointing not to be in with a chance. Kind of the story of the year.

Q. Adam, you seem to have a fairly solid round today from the tee. Hit 85 per cent of the fairways. You gave yourself plenty of chance is to have a good round and six birdies of was it is just that maybe few slight mistakes were punished a bit more than normally would be?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. You know, two of the bogeys were tripped into the long hay. Hard to think you can recover from will with a par. And then I made a technical mistake on 16 and blocked my wedge. Got in the bunker and took a couple to get out.

There were signs of good golf out there, but it's the areas in between that get punished more severely at major championships, and that's why the score isn't agriculture good as it could be.
