U.S. SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

July 10, 2021

Wes Short

Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Omaha Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 68 today. Couple, four birdies. Tell me about your round.

WES SHORT JR.: It was -- I played pretty steady. I think I 3-putted a hole early and then birdied both par-5s on the front and then made a bomb on No. 12, which always helps. Then I hit a good shot on the par-3 down the hill and made that one. Then hit a couple of loose shots coming in, but got up-and-down on 18, so makes dinner a little better tonight.

Q. How has all the rain in the last 24 hours changed things on the course?

WES SHORT JR.: Made it quite a bit wetter. Fairways are, wherever you hit you're pretty much at. A couple mud balls, but can't do anything about that with the rain as much as we got. I'm just happy we finished.

Q. With Jim Furyk leading right now, you beat him way back when, does that give you any confidence or mean anything to you at this point?

WES SHORT JR.: Well, he's a superstar. I'm going to have to play really well. He's playing really well so I would have to go crazy to maybe catch him tomorrow.
