Quick Quotes

Q. Emotions of this?

JASON McDEDE: I don't know yet. I don't know. I knew it was possible, but you never know with golf. First time, young kid. We've been together four years, so we know each other pretty good. It was really good on the front nine. I felt like it was okay. We were trying to -- we had some things that we had laid out before today that we were trying to work on, and it clicked, and then the back nine got a little bit interesting on 15.

I don't think if we had been together so long that maybe I could talk to her like I was able to, because she's pretty tough. She's a fierce competitor. But I think just having the groundwork of four years together just let me kind of say what I wanted to at that moment.

Q. What did you say?

JASON McDEDE: Just to take a deep breath. We were three shots clear. We had a lot of golf left to play. When I first went to work for her, she told me, Jason, I want to play one shot at a time. I said, okay, I'm going to tell you what you told me. You told me you want to play one shot at a time, we play one shot at a time. We just hit the fairway, let's hit the next shot. Then on 17 we finally hit the right club. That's just the -- we played soft, we played soft, and we finally -- she hit the best shot probably of maybe her life right there just to secure that. And then we played 18 a little soft, but in hindsight we made par, it's what we had to do.

Q. What was the club on 17?

JASON McDEDE: Pitching wedge.

Q. And what about 15?

JASON McDEDE: 6-iron. I mean, 6-iron, we were just trying to play to the front left. She didn't like that tee shot all week. In hindsight, I don't know really maybe what we would have done different club-wise, and I told her, I said, we've been through many a golf courses where she didn't like one hole, so it's okay. That hole is over. We were three shots clear, let's just go get it done.

Q. Did your eyes light up when you saw the tees up on 6 and 12 and 18?

JASON McDEDE: Yeah, I mean, a little bit. I knew that would be a little bit of an advantage. We got a little unlucky on 6. We hit a great 3-wood, just went over the green. If that ball stays a hair shorter, it's on the green. But I think when the tees were moved up, it definitely -- and the rain this morning softened all the fairways up, so we were able to not kind of get any weird bounces. She played fantastic golf.

Q. Could you see the shot on 5 because we thought it was going in?

JASON McDEDE: I knew when she hit it it was a good strike and it was a good line. We hit 7-wood, it was going to be a little short, but it might have been perfect.

Q. What was your club at 12?

JASON McDEDE: Club at 12 was -- we hit 6-iron.
